Re: The shaving thread
I use those Gillette Mach 3s. I also dislike disposable stuff, so I tend to use them way longer than I likely should. :/

Nice.
I'll have to try some of that. Not sure it'll work, but it's worth a try.

Re: The shaving thread
I'm all about the double edged safety razors. Feather blades, proraso save soap and a nice badger hair brush. I started a thread last

April when my wife got me the razor; with pics and shit. You can find some cool razors on EBay. I'd post links but I'm on my phone and copying and pasting urls is a pain in the ass. (Just moved to a sweet old new house, no Internet till this evening.)

Re: The shaving thread
I will say that the learning curve is a bit steep and it does take a bit more time then with disposables, but it's way less expensive. The one thing that always frustrated me with stacked blades is their tendency to clog up with hair and the subsequent impossibility of clearing the clog with any thing less than a pressure washer.
Those multi blades razors tout how close of a shave you get, but it doesn't come as near as close of a shave than the safety razor.

Re: The shaving thread
I use the proraso that comes in a small plastic tub. Just the standard stuff as far as I can tell. Compared to some all natural handmade stuff a friend got me from PDX, it lathers up way better, the lather lubricates better and is longer lasting, zero nicks. There is some funky chemicals in it though so if you don't want ...ols, ...yns, and ...ates on your face, please to avoid. It's better than barbosol though.

No, don't think so. Safety razors use disposable blades.
You may be thinking of straight razors (and even then there're some that use disposable blades).

I'm waiting for mine in the mail but I've used straight razors so I imagine they're about the same

30 degrees is correct. Bust out your protractor.

Barbosol, haha. I think my dad has a can at the cottage. No idea how fucking old that thing is.
How do you work up your lather? Do you keep it in a mug/bowl or transfer it onto your hand? Or do you just lather your face up and add a few drops of water to thicken the lather up?

Re: The shaving thread
So serious question, anyone go by feel and shave in the shower? I haven't shaved in front of a mirror in months. I do keep a beard though, and only shave my neck and other areas to keep it trim looking.
I much prefer the shower though. It's warm and hydrating, doesn't burn or irritate, and to me I can get a closer and better shave. No cream either, just hot water.
