You're welcome. No problem.
Yeah, I think The Rambler seems right for you. Unexpanded it's not too big, but expanded it should hold all your stuff.
You should e-mail Mission Workshop, run it by them and see what they say. Bag companies are usually pretty helpful when it comes to figuring out sizing.

Perhaps I am a little late to the game, but I have been rocking this guy's bigger brother (which they no longer offer) for nearly 4 years and it's still in amazing shape:
http://www.acmemade.com/product/The-Clyde-St-Messenger,59,9.htmI went for the big bag because I had a 17" laptop at the time, and it has served me so well for daily use. Tons of pockets, built like a tank. I had planned on getting a new bag once I graduated and got a "real" job, but mine has held up so well that I can't justify buying another and letting this one go to waste. Someday...

Always a good choice.
Also, check the nearby flea market for an attaché bag or a leather courier bag.

I got my Rummy messenger in today. This thing is pretty giant. It will easily carry anything I'll ever feel comfortable carrying on a bike.
They definitely build their bags to last at Mission Workshop. Feels more durable than the hardcases for my guitars. Can't wait to break it in.

Yep, I've never owned a Mission Workshop bag, but they've got a solid rep.
Glad to hear you're happy with your new bag.

Had to bump this thread and thank you for recommending MW, I'm basically a total fanboy which isn't the best since their products are expensive (but worth it if you can afford it). I am a proud owner of a VX Series Rummy Messenger bag and an Orion Jacket. I had to sell a few pedals to fund them but it was well worth it. Figured I'd post my thoughts
VX Messenger Bag (Medium, Slate) http://missionworkshop.com/products/adv ... er-bag.php - This bag is incredibly well made, everything feels so solid and it looks damn good. The strap is wide, has ample padding and is easily adjustable as well as switchable from right side to left. No matter if I'm riding or walking it is extremely comfortable and well balanced. There are plenty of different pockets for organization and even though the main pocket is quite cavernous, it's easy to find whatever it is you're looking for inside it. I use this every day going to school/work and find it always has plenty of room for whatever I need. I've even used it for some light grocery shopping and quite a few times for picking up some beer at the local liquor store. Can't wait to test it's limits and see if I can fit everything I need for a weekend in Chicago next month.
Orion Waterproof Jacket http://missionworkshop.com/products/app ... -orion.php - It got cold in Minneapolis quite quickly this year and we've already had a few days were temps have dropped into the 30's so I was scrambling to find a new jacket. I had originally written the Orion off thinking it too expensive but it was always in the back of my mind. After selling my Mini Ark I just decided to take the plunge as I figured it'd be a good investment and a great companion against the elements for many years. Let's just say I'm beyond excited that I took the plunge, this jacket is amazing. I've only had it a few days but I can't get over how comfortable it is. The fit on it is perfect and it's a great looking jacket, it may not be as fashionable but I couldn't care less about that. The breathable fabric is what really floored me, I can wear it in 30 degree to 50 degree weather with just a T-shirt underneath and be fine, even after stepping in to a hot, stuffy bar. It just always keeps me at a comfortable 'room' temperature. I imagine I'll need to layer up a bit when it starts getting colder but it is nice to know I want be sweating my ass off biking to the grocery store or to school in this thing. As far as water proofing goes, I've only worn it in light rain but it held up quite well, every drop just slid right off. Overall this jacket is incredible and I'm very satisfied with it.
I can't recommend Mission Workshop products enough, there's obviously cheaper (much cheaper) alternatives but I don't regret either of my purchases.

osprey stratos 24.
i've been through a ton of backpacks, this one and my chrome messenger bag have lasted the best.
each can be had on the bay for about 80 bucks. the osprey comes with a stowable raincover, the chrome messenger bag is waterproof and will hold a 24 of highlife cans.

Get an Eddie Bauer backpack, I've had mine for four years now and it's in need of some tlc, but the majority of teh bag is still intact, The water bottle holder and zipper pulls are broken, but I fixed the zipper pulls with string a number of times, and most recently, paper clips. I haven't fixed the water bottle holder but I plan on it. It's big enough for a binder, e notebooks, four folders, two textbooks, and my lunch box. I take it everywhere. It has chest straps and waist straps. I've biked with it to and fro, and walked with it here and there. I'd highly recommend one.
I don't know if REI makes a back pack but I'd buy one of theirs in a heartbeat. My Dad has had a set of three REI bags since 1986 and we still use them. They've been all over the U.S. and to Israel and back. One zipper is broken on one of them. Besides for that they are all fine.
