Yeah he is the 'special' one of the bunch. He makes chirping noises like a bird and when you scratch his back he starts licking the air with his tongue. Also sometimes when he looks at things he'll almost turn his head completely upside down.

That's a healthy looking 23!
My poor 16 year old cat Jerry doesn't look nearly as healthy. Poor guy has hyperthyroidism, and luckily we caught it in time. I have had to put an
expensive medicated ointment on the inside of his ear twice a day for the last two and a half years to keep his thyroid suppressed. It's either that, or a $2,000 radioactive medical procedure in a different state. He'd have to make it to 21 to make the procedure worth it.
I have five cats, all long-haired, who are all on my shit list right now. We had a four cat brawl last night, and they're all still on edge. The one who wasn't involved just scooted his ass across my hard wood floor, so I think I have a disgusting task ahead of me.
I'll post some pics later.

Hah! I meant pictures of the cats!
Here they are, oldest to youngest:
Jerry Garcia. One of my older brothers (who unexpectedly passed away a year ago) adopted him and nursed him back to health, and named him. He had to get rid of him when his landlord found out. We took him, around 1998 or 1999.

By the way, my cats' names will probably reveal that I'm probably the biggest Grateful Dead fan here, but oh well...
This is Sugaree. Don't let the name fool you-- she's the bitchiest cat I have ever seen. We adopted her from a college kid in the late 90s. He lived in one of those houses where 10 kids get a bedroom, and share the living space. Two cats had kittens, and the college kids were messing with them. He took them
all in to his one bedroom. He didn't ask for money, but we gave him some-- he was doing a good thing.

Here is Stella Blue. She is our first Savannah cat. She was living under an abandoned building, and followed me home on my walk from the grocery store. Three days in a row, she jumped a 6 foot fence to get to my door, and three days in a row I fed her. I asked around and nobody claimed ownership, so we took her in.

This is Oscar. We got him about 3 years ago off of Craigslist. Jerry is slowing up in his old age, so Oscar was meant to be his understudy. He is named after the Oscar character from the Canadian sitcom Corner Gas. He has turned out to be a great cat.

And finally, Stripes, but I think his real name is Mr. Stripes. One of my other brothers got sick, and wasn't able to take care of his cats for about a year. I took in two of his cats, my dad took the other three. Stripes and Oscar became friends, so when my brother wanted his cats back, he agreed to let me keep him. We think he's about Oscar's age.

I was gonna post "Shake Sugaree" by Elizabeth Cotten in honor of the bitchiest car Mike's ever seen, but I can't find it on YouTube. Oh, well.

I have to tell the story of the dogs with Grateful Dead-related names that my crazy acid-dealing bass player had back in the early 80s...he had several large and ill-disciplined dogs who'd get out if you weren't careful to re-lock the gate. when this happened, it was really hilarious to hear/see Howie, a short, somewhat pudgy guy who looked alarmingly like the bassist in Spinal Tap without the facial hair, go running down the road--this was a semi-rural area outside a large university town on the West Coast--shouting at the top of his lungs "SPAAAAAAAACE!" "DRUUUUUUUUUUUMMS!" "DAAAAAAAAAAAAARK STAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" as he disappeared into the middle distance. after that i've always avoided that sort of thing when naming my critters, though my last cat was Ronaldinho by consensus vote of me and my ex. but back in the 70s/80s i had a cat named Keith and a cat named Donna Jean.
