Children of Men (the book) is way, way different than the film.

i think it's Suicide Club instead of Suicide Circle in the states? gets a little laggy in the middle, but the 54 High School GrrL Train Jump in the beginning is so awesome it could be an ugly grrL playing patty-cake with a turtle the rest of the movie and i wouldn't care.
i liked Tomie a lot too. fun movie, then the So Close suicide attempt near the end is divine.

but i'm a nerd for Asian movies in general, Japanese or Korean in specific and lurrrrrv their horror stuffs.
I Saw The Devil was a'ight. but Old Boy was infinitely better. the hypnosis angle was a tad silly, but great film. and the 2 sequels, Sympathy For Mr. Vengence and Lady Vengence are great too.

Is this like the Stray Cat Rock movies?
Sounds cool either way.
I also really like Tokyo Gore Police and Tetsuo: The Iron Man.

Yep, Suicide Club in the US. I feel like the katakana was even written as kurubbu though...also fuck yeah musical scene!
Yep, Old Boy and teh sequelz are pretty good.
Ichi the Killer's still the best whatever-genre-you-want-to-call-it. Gorey revenge? More like whorey revenge.

Stray Cat Rock as in the female gang one from the 60s or 70s?

Oh yeah, forgot about Ichi.
And yes to that last part. I love all forms of media regarding the stereotypical banchou/yankii/delinquent thing.
I also really like bosozoku stuff.

Been meaning to watch that one for a while. The trailer is hilarious, but sometimes the trailer will just use all the good scenes and the rest is just bullshit in between. Not the case?

yeah, this. When I was Young I used to watch this at least once a year. Can be watched as a slow and gloomy vigilante flick, too, instead of a typical
chanbara if You are more into that.
I'll sit down and post something after I've read the whole thread.

I thought it was okay... i'd probably give it a 6/10, the trailer did use up a fair few of the funny parts but it's pretty consistent I guess.
Then again i'd been looking forward to it so I mighta ruined it for myself.

I just stumbled upon it late one night, and found it really enjoyable. Never saw the trailer. Good bit of funny mixed in with a decent amount of gore. Modern cheese. I'll have to watch it again to say how good it really is...you know replay value and all that. Reminded me of 2001 Maniacs a little.

Ahh, there we go, i'd been looking forward to it, you caught it, I think i'd probably have enjoyed it more if i'd stumbled on it.
Still, not a bad film, just not as good as I was hoping, although it may get better with repeat watches. Bubba-Ho-Tep managed that for me, thought it sucked the first time I saw it... little did I know...
