What is the hangup with this? Do we think this is some sort of Democratic Republic of ILF?

This is a forum,....and as it grows it's going to see all kinds of traffic from people from all walks of life and all sorts of sensitivities. And like it or not; for the youngins, this forum is going to set an example of what is acceptable behavior and frankly the N-bomb is unacceptable. I'm sorry if this ruffles anyone's feathers,...but seriously if you are white and want your ass beat,....drop the N-bomb around a group of black guys. The N-bomb is not fucking cool in any context; Full Stop.

The point is that this is probably the least totalitarian gear forum on the internet and again,...the mods have respectfully asked that we refrain from cultural, racial, gender and sexual insensitivity. I don't think that's too much to ask that we abide by those wishes.

I'm feeling pretty chill, but it is annoying when people start talking shit about the modding here, like there's some Orwellian bullshit going on, when this is one of the most loosely modded gear forums I know of. There are f-words in posts and subjects, nudity, graphic sexual language, drug discussion...

Pretty much the only things not allowed are racist posts, graphic porn, n-words, insults based on sexuality, and any post that one of the mods decides violates ILF's main rule: "Don't be an asshole." (Though most of those are left in, if only so other people notice the asshole.)

If you think ILF--which is almost unmodded--is overmodded...

i believe we're allowed to have differences of opinion, and my opinion remains that though the mods here are generally quite laissez-faire, it's still painfully lame in the 21st century to blank out (eyeroll) "the N word" or to change pronouns in a post so Devi Ever, of all people, won't have her feelings hurt. if, as the deconstructionists love to claim, words mean only what the user wishes them to mean, shut up with this BS already and leave people to talk, even if they express themselves in ways i wouldn't myself because my mother taught me to have better manners than that. the behavioral horse is already out of the gate, kids. and nobody has the right not to be offended, or not to have their precious wittle feelings hurt.

If it offends you that the people who run this forum have a problem with people dropping N-bombs, and with antagonizing transgendered people by calling them by the opposite gender pronouns, that says more about you then it does about the mods.

And anyone who claims that words only mean what the user wishes them to mean is being a thoughtless, self-absorbed ignoramus with no concept of history or human nature. Words have meaning that has been established by decades or centuries of context and history.
