just apply online. applied for accessories. holy shit the test u had to take for part knowledge was nuts. it asked about drum heads, dj lighting, and some crazy things. i was able to google most of them but still wtf, i understand accessories is a vague department and can cover alot but they have different departments for each instrument it seems so why should accesories cover all of them? i think i may reapply a second time but for guitar salesmen. can i do that? i dont like how u could only apply for one position

dont apply twice, your test is timed so even if you got %100 its very very obvious that your think slow or you cheated. the reason they test you for everything is they need to know what department your best at and if possible you can swing between multiple department. a good quality they look for in assistant manager. some stores have 5 assistant mangers so dont get too excited. one of the tests is a pre-screen. if you didn't have to take the other test than you didn't pass the pre-screen.

all the applications that pass the first test will end up on the desk of the store you selected online. the other stores can pull your app from the website if they are close enough to that store. so if the store you want is full, you might get a call back from the next guitar center an hour away. that is, if they are desperate.
I tested great across every department when I tried to get rehired but in the end, my old store manager cock blocked me at the corprate HR level.

its been over 2 years since I have done this but I remember one is like an app or something and the other is purely product knowledge. they may have changed it since though. it ends up in the fax machine so it might not get a look until you call. just give them a day or two before you call. even if someone throws it out, they just go on the website and its right there for your new boss to see.

i did the app, that asked about customer stuff, a few questions about work place ethics, my personality, then after that small app/survey/quiz i went onto the product knowledge quiz

i worked in the warehouse back in like 2005-2006 at the store in Arlington. Most of the sales guys were complete tools. It was fun stuff tho. A lot of lifting and climbing ladders. We would all just be jammin in the back blastin some tunes and listening to Howard Stern. The 3 other warehouse guys were kickass. I wish i could find them and re connect with them.

talking to customers for half an hour is cool w/ my managers provided there is no one else in the store.
if there are two people in the store and I spend too much time "romancing" one of them, it's time for a nice talking to :/
after the first test, go to the store and talk to the managers! seriously!
otherwise you'll be lost to the pile, only reason I was able to get in was because I've been going to this gc for years upon years and already knew a few of the guys (all the guys)
discount can be pretty ballin, I just picked up a gk studio for 325 + tax
overall, honestly, it's a good college gig
you meet tons of cool people, of course there are douchebags but you learn to deal with those too.
I'd write more but I wanna go play mass effect
