not to be a grump, but i think that if someone's gonna have a company subforum they should have a website that's navigable and useable with proper descriptions of their products. the way e.g. Creepy Fingers deals--or rather doesn't deal--with this is really irritating. in contrast, Ghost Effects is really good this way.

I'm of the opposite opinion...having a subforum is a great informational tool and would really help out builders like Brad, especially if they plan on frequenting the forum.
An active discussion board is much more useful than any website/blog/myspace could ever be.

yes. is that supposed to change my opinion? i don't mean to seem insulting, but if you're going to be serious about your business you should present yourself and your products in a way that's accessible to the consumer. i shouldn't have to go to Prymaxe, Tonefactor, etc. to figure out what your products are and what they do...you should want to sell your products enough to tell me. it's not my job to sell your products to myself. ("your" being, of course, the collective/non-personalized pronoun)

in some ways. if you want to ask the builder detailed questions, they're great. if you want to get an quick overview of the product line, features of each product on a single page, etc. they're a huge pain to drill down through. e.g. if i want information on Copilot stuff--say, an answer to the question "how does the Tap Gyroscope differ from the Dubscope?" i can go to the forum here, search by keywords, and then at least scan every result. OR i can go to the Copilot site, where the information about those boxes is neatly compiled on two easily accessible pages. you see?

Well, although it is now within the dregs of the e-universe, the Creepy Fingers Myspace is what Brad has always used to sell his pedals, and if you were to look at it, you'd know exactly what all of his pedals do, and their prices, and hear sound clips. Also, the thing about CF is that he'll also build you whatever you ask him to, so there's that as well. It's unfortunate that what once was a useful tool for so many people is now a giant piece of shit, but his myspace is still up, man, and it still tells you all that you need to know.

Be careful what you ask for--ever hear about the kinked swami who wondered what it would be liked to be finger-f*cked by Kali?

no. no intention to change your opinion. just to talk about an example...
but i don't give a fuck if a company has a good website or not. i buy the stuff cause e.g. doug, brian or tom "promote" it in their subforum. and there has always been some insight information about the new pedals before... i really see no need of a webpage as sth. mandatory to get a subforum. in the perfect case the subforum is the main information source (at least for me).
