For me, hockey is that sport that you just have to watch live.

College football is more commercial than the pros. Not to mention the fact that the scores are usually like 600-32. But if you dig it, meh that's cool, I've been argumentative enough for one drunken night.

But everything is better than soccer!!! :p

Now you see Hockey is the only sport I can watch on TV. Commentary is hit or miss. I like going to the games better but I follow the NHL so much,...getting to local games is putting on a show.

Some of those local announcers and analysts annoy me to no end. The Kings and Bruins guys because of their voices, the Penguins guys because they're too infatuated with their team. Going to games is great when you're right up against the glass even if tickets can be $200+, unless you go to the Coyotes then it's like $25.

NESN (Bruins) Commentary Sucks,...Edwards has to be a bigger homer than the Pens, which is not to detract from the homerism of CSN Pittsburgh.

I can't stand Rick Jennerettes (Buffalo Sabres Play by Play) voice either.

I actually like to be front row on the second level looking just behind the goal line of the oppositions goalie (1st and 3rd) ,...nice unobstructed view and a good vantage point,..but those are probably 200+ for the NHL,...and like 15 dollars for WHL games (which are the live games I go to most).

My team is Philly and I still have family there (with connections) so I might be able to have the hook up if I ever get over there for a game. An NHL game is one thing I've never experienced live.

NHL hockey is great live! I think it's the only sport that's better live than on tv. That shit is so fast paced and brutal, the live experience doesn't translate well on tv. It's expensive though, a ticket connection would be awesome, you should definitely take advantage.

Another reason not to watch Buffalo games. That Brick guy has been popping up on Versus as well unfortunately. Jonesy and the Comcast guys don't annoy me too much.

Yeah, second level is fun, close enough to still feel the intensity but with the overview of what's going on. Had seats right behind the dugout once which is cool but it's harder to really see the game. But great to have done at least once even if it was the Panthers bench.

The WHL is pretty decent right? Having a team is cool. Then again, not having one allows me to look at homestands/prices and decide based on that. The only reason to go on a vacation for me is watch live NHL.

Before I saw the light that is NHL hockey I went to a shitload of soccer games but I'd always get bored watching it on TV. Though since regularly watching hockey I can't stand soccer eitherway, too boring, too much flopping and too much bitching.

The WHL is a developmental league and part of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) which also includes the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). I think the CHL has a age limits (16-25) and it is usually filled with amateurs and drafted but unsigned (or possible signed) players. This is where players cut their teeth when they aren't quite ready to crack AHL and NHL lineups. The pace is not as fast but it's still intense.

I've watched a lot of hockey on TV (I pay for NHL Gamecenter Live which will stream games up to 3200 kbps and in Hi-Def if your bandwidth and vid card can handle it,...it will even stream on PS3s and other media computers). As I said I follow the Flyers and have only missed a handful of games over the past 4 seasons,...so I've grown really accustom to following the action on TV. For me it's just as exciting and easy to follow the action. My only problem with TV coverage is they tend to de-emphasize the between the whistle shenanigans which is an aspect of hockey I greatly enjoy (the pushing and shoving and face washing that occurs after the play is whistled dead,...usually around the goaltenders crease).

Funny story,...while Ice Skating last night there was a family that looked like they grew up on the ice. One tall acned up teenager in particular was wearing a Chiefs Jersey (the WHL team here in Spokane) and skated like a hockey player. As the Rink was approaching closing time a pee wee hockey team from North Idaho started filtering in,...I can only assume there was a pee wee game that night.

One of the kids; couldn't have been more then 10 years old, started yelling at the teenager through the Zamboni entrance. He was taunting him that he would never make the WHL. I approached the teenager him and asked him if the pee wee was taking shit,...he said yeah. Apparently the tall kid was already in the WHL and plays for Lethbridge but lives in the area and is good friends with the player whose jersey he was wearing. Knowing hockey culture I wasn't surprised,...I said to the WHLer that the pee wee must be the tough guy. He just laughed and commented that he loves the little shit talkers. They start em young.

It was cool to be on the ice with someone that could eventually break in to the AHL or NHL. These kids spend a lot of time on the ice and me being a novice skater,...I have a ton of repsect for even the ugliest skater (Jody Shelley) in the NHL,...to be able to stick handle,...puck handle,...check, avoid checks,....maneuver and fight on skates takes a great deal of skill,...I can't even skate backwards and my legs are so shaky when I first get onto the ice. I will say I'm am proud of myself for not falling once in two hours of skating around in a circle.

So true, there's always shit going on behind the play and after whistles, miss a lot on TV because they have to follow the puck. I also like seeing the play develop, you know, having the whole rink view let's you see the game a little different. Don't get me wrong though, I watch most hockey on TV and it's awesome, replays are great! Just really exciting to see it live. Only live experience that is superior is seeing bands, IMO.

I have never actually watched television on my tv but I got a digital tv box last thanksgiving.. I tried to turn on the superbowl and for whatever reason I thought it was on cbs and they were showing "undercover boss" so I left it on with the sound off, listented to thin lizzy, and made a RAT.

I practiced with my band, hung out with my college friends, and texted Keith from Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) to antagonize him about the Lions because he's the only big football fan I talk to. It was a pretty successful evening, my band started writing a new song.
