sazae is a sea snail, and if you ask me is completely inedible. Raw, it's like a cross between boogers and shoe leather, cooked it's like a cross between warm boogers and shoe leather.
hoya, they call it sea pineapple, is like a sea cucumber only worse. Tough, fibrous, kinda fishy, kinda fruity, kinda slimy, like mango and squid together. It's a filter feeder too, cleaning up and concentrating all the crap in the ocean in it's flesh. Which you then choke down with some Asahi Supa Dorai.
I like natto though -- fermented beans that are all stringy with bacterial snot. Like some old geezer with a smoker's cough is sitting in the back room shovelling spoonfuls of beans into his mouth and then hacking them out on a plate for you to eat along with what ever else his consumptive viscera sends with it.

dude. just the smell of natto makes me want to yak.

i fuckin LOVE snail, though.

i've tried bison, but it's a bit dry.

chicken heart is surprisingly delicious.

i'll try damn near anything at least once.

as for favorite foods, i'd say eel and korean bbq are tied.

My uncle makes this Weight watchers approved german chocolate pie it's pretty awesome, especially with all of the cool whip that he brings! No it's actually pretty good, and cool whip is actually pretty okay. Last I had it was at Thanksgiving, besides for that Devi Still has all the pie adn didn't include any in my recent purchase. Also pie is really more for comical use thatn actuall enjoyment, just saying.

How about Christmas Foods?

Being a veggie, Christmas is an interesting time, some favourite recipes i've made up though are Wild Mushroom Pate' with Cream Cheese, Nutmeg, Smoked Paprika & Brandy and I also make immense Dark Choclate Rum Truffles with Dried Sour Cherries, sorts out presents easily and also Stuffed Roast Tomatoes with Tallegio, Pine Nuts, Breadcrumbs, Onion & Garlic with Herbs and Sweet Roast Red Peppers and my Mum makes this awesome nut loaf with a parsley stuffing center and I fucking hate nut loaf normally.

Anyone got any good Christmas Recipes?

Weird food... before I was veggie, I had Snails in Garlic Butter in france, not all that bad, Rabbit which was fucking disgusting (might have been how it was made... horrible spanish tomato sauce with it) and my mum used to make immense Chinese Ribs... that's not really weird but with the way asian food was going in this thread.

Pears + Parsley = great

I will have to try this combination, not always a great fan of parsley but that sounds interesting, Strawberries with Black Pepper & Basil works so that could be a winner.

Grilled Pears & Radicchio or other Hard Hearted Lettuce with the right cheese in any light pastry is also great.

They're like salty potato popcicles. Refreshing AND greasy.

Whenever I make Oven Fries or eat Spaghetti or have Frozen Peas... I can never help myself but eat some raw

Hey!

...My lawn clippings are damn tasty...

Naw, i'm a cool veggie, I cook meat for people that eat it aslong as they bring it, just use seperate pans & utensils and I don't bother them with my ethics or evil them as they eat there food.

Infact the chef part of me appreciates getting to use a different ingredient even though I don't eat it, i'm told I cook a damn fine steak... even though i've never actually tried steak.

Mushroom Pate'
1) Clarify Some Butter
2) Cook Mushrooms in the Butter till Golden then Drain/ Remove most of the Butter and cook the mushrooms more if you like (I like them browned)
3) Put Smoked Paprika in to taste and a dash of Nutmeg
4) Pour over a shot or two of Brandy & Flambe'
5) Transfer to a Blender, Mix in Cream Cheese, A herb of your Choice (Parsley usually works) Salt & Pepper to Taste Blend to desired consistency
6) Transfer to a Ramakin & Chill in the Fridge

Dark Choclate Truffles you can't have the recipe for as I don't have my book with me and for some reason... I can never do desert dishes from memory, only savoury.

Stuff Roast Tomatoes... Well you just hollow out a tomato, fry up the onions etc and make a stuffing out of those ingredients.

One thing that my brother-in-law (who is Taiwanese) usually brings every time he comes over is...um... :erm: I don't remember the name..but it's these little 'pockets' made out of soy, filled with sweetened rice and toasted sesame seeds...I can usually eat one and it's pretty good..but if I go for more than one, the sweetness kinda..adds up and by the second or third it's just too much :barf:
