I don't understand what people find so confusing about the Jaguar/Jazzmaster switches. :?:

I've never found them confusing. I figured it out when I sat down with one at Elderly's.

Most people don't have any issue figuring them out.

There are those few people out there though. Anything past a three way switch makes them have a panic attack and soil themselves. :hello:

They do, they're called Blacktop Jaguars.

And Mexican Strats and Teles sound and play differently than the other models. Just because they have the same amount of pickups and knobs doesn't mean they're the same quality. I own a MIM Tele and it's not the same quality as an American one I've played or even a 72' Deluxe.

If you're going to bring right and wrong into a subject about whether a guitar should be labeled Jaguar or not, then you're way too fucking picky about a guitar you're not willing to pay and play.

Hell yeah, I'm picky. That's why I shelled out and bought a '62 Jaguar and never bothered with any of the derivatives. When your income is based on the music you play, you'd better be as picky as hell and get the best of the best.

And I still maintain that any fender guitar with the name 'Jaguar' should have three pieces of badass chrome and switches up the wahzoo, even if they're of lesser quality. :flame:

Since my Gibson SG Classic has P-90s instead of humbuckers, it's not an SG? And Devi shouldn't call it the Soda Meiser anymore because it doesn't have the chaos mode. The 72' Telecaster Deluxe is completely different from the normal ones, should we not call it a Telecaster?

It's a 2010 Blacktop Jaguar. Not a 62' Jaguar.

I'm sorry... I just can't see the appeal. Classic players jag/jazzy any day for me!

these things are not my style but i understand why others would dig them. i do like that they used amp knobs.
and that tele is about as wrong as one could get with a tele.....but that's sorta kool just because it's so wrong.

I think the main appeal is the price tag...these are supposed to be slightly cheaper than the standard mim strat/teles.

They're $450.

I dig the JM and Jag all around. The Jag is a bare-bones rocker, and the JM is sort of vintage-modern. I doubt I'll keep the HB in the Jazzmaster, but for $450 brand new, I have no problem grabbing a JM Bridge pickup or P94 or something.

The Jag I'd keep stock. I need an HH guitar around, and that Silver Jag will be it.

I really wanna fuck one of the JMs up. I plan on buying one, painting it, and tearing out the humbucker and leaving a giant fucking hole. Do you think I could put a regular Jag/Jazzy bridge in there?

Worst case scenario, you'd have to pull the bridge posts out, dowel the holes, and redrill for the JM style bridge. I've seen it done before.

Of course, you may just need to pull out the current bridge parts and stick a regular JM style bridge, posts, and mounts in. :idk:

I'm dying to get the JM. Waiting for Musicians Friend to join the crowd of just-about-every-other site and put them up for preorder so that I can get 20% off. :poke: :excellent:
