It's okay though. You love fuzz, so you're cool.

I dig my local scene here. Lots of garage/indie/psych stuff going on. Heres some bands I play/have played with:

http://www.myspace.com/hatepophatepop - Awesome guys. Noisy trashy punk rock shoegaze stuff. New album out.
http://www.myspace.com/tandollar - Keyboard/psych/rock. No guitars. Probably my favorite local band.
http://www.myspace.com/dahgabloom - Awesome psychedelic jams. Local staple and awesome dudes.
http://www.myspace.com/cosmonautstheband - Sweet psychedelic garage rock. Currently on a full U.S. tour.
http://www.myspace.com/mypetsaddleband - Southern tinged indie. Spiffy tunes with a new album coming out.
http://www.myspace.com/audacityca - House party punk. Also a local staple.
http://www.myspace.com/thelovelybadthings - Super fun band. I call them The Lovely Rad Dudes and/or The Lovely Buttery Bros.

+ tons more. I used to hate our scene because it was perforated with screamo/hardcore bullshit. I dug a little deeper and found some really awesome tunes played by ever awesomerrrr people.

I think I'm stuck in the Japandroids, Tegan & Sarah, Of Montreal, and My Morning Jacket stereotypes.

Even though I don't listen to (and actually have not heard the majority of, and never heard of quite a few), I did notice that I fit into some of them stereotypes:

Hopelessly patchy beard growers (I CAN'T GROW A FUCKING BEARD FOR SHIT!)

People with self-esteem issues and probably hate Ben Gibbard (Except I don't know who the fuck this Ben Gibbard is).

Guys who only read Pitchfork for the ratings and haven’t showered in at least two days (Except I fucking never read Pitchfork).

Gay guys (Yet IDK who that dude is, haha).

Bros who drink shitty beer without ironic intentions (I'm not a "BRO" :( ).

Men who used the cheat code to see naked, poorly-rendered 3D figures showering in The Sims (DON'T JUDGE ME!).

Guys who lit fires in their backyards before hitting puberty. Then they took up smoking (LAWL! Too true... :( )

Lonely, chronic masturbators who end up settling for the Cat Power chicks (Cat Power BROS*).

Guys who mistake their blender for a radio (GUFFAW).

Guys who have proposed The Holy Mountain as an alternative to watching A Kid in King Arthur’s Court at family get-togethers (Not really, but that made me lulz).

But do you like the corresponding bands?

Like I love me some Ratatat, and I'll shank a bitch who so much as breathes something bad about OoT.

And I still have my Take Off Your Pants and Jacket CD...

There isn't much of a local scene (well, not until my band fucks that shit up)

Well there is a huge scene here if you are into reggae, jawaiian, or hawaiian music. NO rock, NO metal. its horrible here.
22 more months and my wife and i will be in Boston and I am sure the scene is better there.

In and around Red Bank NJ we had a great *ahem* scene. I qualify that by saying that nobody in the "scene" has been "seen" by anybody because people apparently decided all at once to stop going out to the Rock'n'Roll show. But Monster Magnet was always around and they spawned great bands like the Ribeye Brothers and Atomic Bitchwax, and were surrounded by Solace, Solarized, Halfway to Gone, A Thousand Knives of Fire, the Pitchblack Heart Attacks, The Killyous, and then of course tons of shitty hardcore bands. Now that I moved to Charlotte NC I can't even find a college radio station and all they play on rock radio is a band called Breaking Benjamin, that I was much happier to be unaware of. No one wants to be in an original band at all because there's no money. I don't begrudge cover bands but that makes it work. I don't want to work. I'm 35, I've made nary a dime in my life making music, and dammit I'm not gonna start now.

Charlotte NC, I just want to smoke weed, make loud fuzzy noise, then steal your chicks with my superior rock-ness. Someone help me!

  I was in the same boat. I grew up in the Caribbean, and if you didn't like Reggae or Calypso based stuff there really wasn't anything else.

Could I ask why you have a move date set almost 2 years out?
