Thats cool. So it doesn't pick up the local radio station???
I used to have a BBE Free Fuzz that would pick up the local pop station in Burlington and I would constantly hear Ke$ha over my amp which was a large contributing factor to my selling it.

What 810's and 415's do you guys prefer?
I know there's only a few companies out there that made/make 415's.
8x10 - Ampeg Fridge (its a classic for a reason)
4x15 - Vintage Sunn, Vintage Marshall, and EA / Green are the only one's I've seen.
If you got the loot and the time there's a couple custom builders who could make them for you, Mammoth, Emperor, Olde Crow....

yeah, the last time i had a fuzz face, i could swear i was picking up the next door neighbors telephone conversation...it didn't sound like the radio and the female on the phone sounded a lot like her...i would have kept it, but the conversations were fuckin boring!

I talked to Emperor about it before... They said they don't make 415's often and would rather do two 215's.
I've looked at the EA 810's and 415's... The 810 is 2,800 watts, the 415 is 1,600 or 1,800 depending if you want Delta 15A's (400 watts) or Kappa 15A's (450 watts)
That's INSANE.
I can honestly say I've never played through an Ampeg 810... I've had the Ampeg V4 half stack. That's about it.
I've never heard of Mammoth or Olde Crow! I'll have to check them out.
I almost got my hands on TWO 70's Marshall 4x15's locally. Didn't work out, it was with a Marshall Major too.

Honestly in terms of weight it might be beneficial for you to split it into 2 2x15's unless you went the Marshall route which I'm still sure is heavy as balls

I have yet to pick up noise on any of these pedals. I have a pretty big snub cap in there to smooth out high end and it also prevent radio as well

the power amp in any acoustic is a bit of a nightmare. Damn discrete analog stuff like that is much much more complicated then any tube amp

Regarding the topic on video demos, I like both conversational ones and more proactive ones that just show sounds, like Nick's. There is actually another Nick on Youtube called JustNick. His demos are great, but he can literally talk for about ten minutes on a distortion pedal. He plays various different styles of music, so I'm subscribed and really enjoy his content. He's also very intellectual and takes it seriously, unlike Gearmanndude who plays off his own cliché.
Ancient Astronaught wrote:new05002 wrote:selling gear to make the bills is rough. Hopefully he snags a few thousand or so. Seems achievable.
Tell me about it.... I was gonna sell the Baritone to fund a Moog Rogue, now it seems that it has to go to paying off bills....

Oh shit. The Jazzmaster baritone?
I saw that. Big shame. I was tempted by the Sonic Titan, but I don't think I can afford it.
Iommic Pope wrote:I have this sick obsession with phaser...yet I only ever dick around with it at home.
That infanem looks like sex and the demos sound somehow even more lush...but I'm still gassing for a whetstone, if you're gonna be up that end of the price range.
I've got a phase 90 right now, its cool, but there're no bells or whistles.
The only thing cooler than phase though is vibe. And the coolest of vibes is Czech....how bizarre.
http://www.electronicorange.cz/en/guitar-pedals/moon-vibeI have the biggest boner in the world for these and they do cool fuzz as well. I think I'm gonna order one after I get an ape blaster.
I really want a vibe pedal as well. I'm thinking either the DryBell, new MojoHandFX Villanova that's coming out soon, or maybe something more subtle like the Bearfoot FX Mint Green MInivibe. I need something in a small MXR-sized enclosure, or possibly the Skreddy Paradigm Shift with its bigger enclosure.
The Whetstone didn't impress me much. I had it for a couple of weeks but didn't gel with it. I found it too cumbersome to dial in. It sounded wonderful—very juicy and thick and organic—but it was too big, and filled with too many features for its own good. I'm sure if I spent more time with it then I would have become more accustomed to the control set, but I didn't have the patience and wasn't that enamoured by the tones to work with it.
dazedbyday wrote:I have to agree on not worrying about mixing drivers. Any phasing problems would probably be minimal and it would be different depending upon position in the room anyway. So the audience will hear something slightly different on one side of the room compared to the other. You will never get a perfect response.
Also have you guys seen the new EHX multi pedal. It is a pog, electric mistriss and reverb in one. Pretty neat sounding.

Sounds awesome. It's a lot more versatile than you'd think it would be. The effects are actually very interactive with each other.

just heard this band today and i think it's pretty killer. thought folks here might be into it. the whole album is really good.
also, just found an original model t listed for $800. emailed within 15 minutes of posting so hoping i get a chance to hear back about it. i don't really have the money, but i could maybe sell one of my marshalls tonight to a friend if i had a chance to snag this thing for this price. i haven't seen one of these for this little in almost ten years.
Woah, mega cheap.
Will have a listen in a moment. I can't stop jamming Dillinger once I start.

Any large quantity speaker bass cab is going to be extremely high wattage, which is why alot of guys go with a preamp and high wattage SS power amp setup. I've played through a fridge and if your in standard tuning it can't be beat, but with my p-bass in BEAD it had no where near the low end my 2x15 puts out.
Mammoth and Olde Crow both build stained cabinets in a similar yet different vein of Emperor. When Emperor declined to build my headshell Tom at mammoth stepped up and blew them out of the water. His aesthetic and build quality is top notch and he loves big loud doomy cabs. Olde Crow I don't have any personal experience with but the stuff they post online is jaw dropping.
Bassboar wrote:Don't forget the Acoustic 408, I'm determined to build a clone of one someday.
Awww shit, GOOD CALL!!! Those cabs are absolute beasts, but hard to find
AngryGoldfish wrote:Oh shit. The Jazzmaster baritone?
The Jaguar Baritone, its in the BST right now.

I bought it from DeathMonkey and I absolutely love it as it plays and sounds perfect for what I was looking for, but I have to near max out my only credit card to get caught up on bills since alot of companies started pulling some bullshit after these new law changes that went into effect January 1st. I'm going to have to sell my backup P-bass as well, I just can't decide which one is my main and which one is my backup.

yes please. i also want to get a Mutron Phasor cloned to try against my ever-faithful Small Stone.
Small stone rules, you should check out the Whetstone if you long for a super pimped out version of that fantastic phaser.
That said, I recently acquired a MuTron BiPhase for $650 (which is a goddman steal believe it or not!) and it's easily the best sounding phaser I've ever heard, far and away. Of course it's gigantic but I'm thinking it's just two of the standard Phasors paired up with multiple options on how to run 'em.
The Infanem Faye Sing is the only current production I know of based on a MuTron Phasor and it's pretty cool. I have the Faye's Her, the limited run BiPhase-ish offering from Infanem, dual Faye Sings, and it sounds mighty close to the BiPhase but not quite there. It has WAY MORE in terms of options and control tho....
I really wanted the Faye's Her, but I couldn't spare that kind of cash. Ken even said it himself, he couldn't in all honesty continue to make a pedal that cost so much. It's a real shame. Maybe he'll be able to do a Fairfield and reintroduce it with some tweaks at a more affordable cost a couple of years down the line.
nightterrors wrote:Currently? I don't have any cabs in my name, technically speaking. I've been using an Acoustic 410 and 80's Marshall 4x12 bass cab that are at the jam space the band I'm in shares (I don't like the sound of either cabs...) A new guy just joined our jam and said he has an 810 and 215 I can use if I'd like, and I believe a Mesa Bass 400.
Currently, I have the 98' Green Matamp Legend 140, I'm pretty set on getting a 75' Or120 from this guy in my area, I've got him Down quite a bit now in price.
We are playing in a tuning my buddy sort of came up with as of last night, it's pretty similar to A Standard I guess you could say.
Definitely decided on the 810-415 combo. Green on one, orange on the other.
Dude, that would slay small babies and adults alike.
new05002 wrote:some people hate the super brite one, shit does blind u if u look at it str8. Big LEDs take up space so people are looking to conserve it at times and they go with 3mm instead of 5mm. i just sort of do whatever i want unless otherwise asked to do something different
this was nearly dead on.
The LED might be consuming more current then the actual fuzz pedal
That is the epitome of Doom. Pointless and over-the-top, but so fucking awesome at the same time. Life is full of pointless endeavours. Not everything we do has to have a reason. Sometimes it's nice to sit back and let the natural flow of life take us.
sergiomunoz74 wrote:Hey duder's, I'm looking to get a phaser to finish off my PT. JR I have a relatively large space and was wondering what would you guys recommend, Moog Phaser, sibling, or whet stone. I don't see any used sibling phasers so lets assume that they sit at their MSRP 195. I can usually find the moog phaser used for 200ish and same goes for the whetstone.
Infanem Compact Faye Sing (two Doom Room broskies have them, and I'll have one when I can afford it) or Subdecay Quasar DLX (I have this one. It's expensive, but it's worth it if you're a tweaker like me).
samzadgan wrote:so I got the DLS yesterday, i haven't run it through the Sarcophagus yet (still on its way) but tried it out with the Big Muff...boosting the muff and the other way...it sounds awesome with the muff feeding into it. It basically takes the fuzz from the muff and adds mids to it, so you don't get that super compressed sound of the muff. It all lacks a good bottom end, but i guess that will come when i get my BAT pedal. But so far so good!
Glad you're liking it. Usually Catalinbread pedals don't have that much low-end compared to a Dunwich or Black Arts, but their Ampeg and Hiwatt clones I've tried had loads of bass.
