Dad Dick, I've had expensive Ramen twice in my life. I truly don't think it's worth it. I'm starting to think the most anybody should spend on Ramen is $1.99, and that's pushing it (my favorite brand cost 78 cents).
Expensive ramen does NOT reheat well in the microwave. It always (2x total) taste like boiled anus.
"How do you know what boiled anus taste like?" I know because I just ate reheated expensive ramen. :vomitingemoji:

If I understand your question: no, never spend more than $1.25 on ramen.

The local Asian grocery store has this one I dig and it's like 89 cents, but it comes with actual kim-chi in a sealed foil packet. I don't mean the dehydrated kind either. It's actual kim-chi. So bomb

A few questions for you, if I may:
1) What is 'quality?'
2) How do you reconcile your ever-encroaching mortality with your inability or unwillingness to lead lives of substance?
3) Given the current political and economic climate, why are there so few revolutions? Why have the proletariat not yet seized the means of production?

1. Quality is taking a good dump approximately 20-24 hours after a great meal.
2. Thinking is for the weak. Alternatively just think about the mortality portion (which life is forcing me to do much more often than not as of recently, might be looking at a family death hat trick soon) vs living a life of substance.
3. The internet.

I will take a stab at this!
1) What is 'quality?' - Read 'Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values' or don't.
2) How do you reconcile your ever-encroaching mortality with your inability or unwillingness to lead lives of substance? - Easy answer, Nihilism. $hark's genuine answer: I don't want you to think I'm a one trick pony but every time we get into the discourse I cite 'relativism' and some sort of 'meta-ethics'. I think a lot of these principle's are transferrable to 'Substance'. To quote DFW, "People try to make compelling narratives out of other banal lives". But is it 'Banal'? I don't think so. You could boil it down to basic existential thought that humans create their own meaning. I may never be 'successful' but perhaps that is not 'substantive' to me. Perhaps the end all be all, is masturbating overhand 5 times a day.
Worrying about death is futile, although I totally understand 'missing people' when they are gone
3) Given the current political and economic climate, why are there so few revolutions? Why have the proletariat not yet seized the means of production?
You use the word 'climate', I use 'ecosystem'. No revolutions from me because I need some things to exist the way they are so that I can 'play in my corner of the sandbox' so to speak. No I did not vote for Trump. I am not a nefarious person but I definitely need some sort of 'mainstream' culture to exist so that I can work in the 'off shoot' of a 1st world society.
EDIT 1: I liken it to you need 'harmony' to have 'dissonance'. So if you want to compose dissonant music, understand the rules of harmony and just don't do that.
Helpful?

Oh, I'm sorry. I neglected to mention that I've absorbed the entirety of Western letters (and a good chunk of other traditions'). I'm familiar with Pirsig; I'm looking for clarification on whether or not I should use my genetic code to repopulate the earth with a more capable apex predator/carbon-based virus. Answering these questions would help in this judgment.
DFW succeeded in narrativizing his own banal existence by ending it.
As an anthropenis, I don't worry about death. I wonder why you aren't scurrying around trying to either live in service to a deity/ideal or pursuing ultimate hedonism, given that these seem to be the prevailing winds of belief or disbelief. Either way, no one seems to be doing a very good job.
The internet is the great pacifier? Does the internet signify dissonance or harmony in general, if I can synthesize these ideas?
I will be your god, please and thank you.

Per living in service to a deity/pursuing hedonism, blame social construct. Neighbors peering eyes are what is keeping me down! Culture is weird. Japan has a whole facet of their culture based around it called 本音 (Honne) and 建前 (Tatemae). Basically you're always two version of yourself, true voice and a public facing voice that you go through. It's weird and even though I think it exists in all cultures in some form, it's a lot more prevalent there. I'm still not sure what substance is in life, is it a set of goals I define and then reach and "yay"? or is it something deeper. I don't really read any philosophers at all so I'm not sure I know any words outside my own to relatively describe this.
Per the internet, who knows at this point. It honestly just feels like we've exchanged having wars in the middle ages to having wars on the digital frontier instead. So I guess the internet signifies dissonance between others and harmony in like minded individuals. For how many crazy things the internet has done in the advancement of the human race, it'll most likely be one of the largest things that causes our downfall. I wonder if that's truly what is happening now. Who is the dude that had the theory that the collective IQ of the human race goes down as no natural disasters, famines, or wars happen to keep population in check? That's the internet's fault.
