They started in the late 2000s I think, but put out their best albums in 2011 and last year. The one from last year is pretty much my favourite doom record, From All Purity.
:idk: it's not a bad album, in a generic sort'a way I guess...
LOL I don't know why I love it so much but everybody has that noe band they really go to bat for and errybody else is like :idk:
Indian is one of mine? I don't find it generic at all. It speaks to me

Botanist is cool but I am so torn on the mix.

Same with Sumac, actually.

Thou/The Body is holding up nicely, though.

Haven't heard Botanist and will check it out, but the other two are fandippitytastic.

That first song on the Thou/The Body record is so sludgy.

TBH I can't think of a time Thou ever let me down in the pure unadulterated sludginess dept.

The best of 2015 is somewhere in there, for me.

The new selena gomez is so hot right now aswell.

Selena hasn't set my world on fire like Demi has. Maybe she needs a better songwriter? Between 'Cool For The Summer' and 'Give Your Heart A Break,' Demi captured my ears this summer.

I'm fine with the Sumac mix. Did Botanist record with Jack Shirley again? I feel like Botanist would be a very interesting band to record/produce/mix, etc.

Thou/The Body was great. Awesome as hell to see live, too. Punishing waves of volume.

The only thing that really bothers me about mixing is when the vocals are buried.

Like most of Fucked Up's records, especially David Comes To Life, are really, really good, save for the distracting fact that the vocals are behind everything else.

You have to strain to hear his voice behind the band and that's just a piss-off. Borderline dealbreaker.

I'll have to listen to that because I kinda dig buried vocals.

Do it! They're a Toronto punk institution. Gravelly rock and roll at its finest.

anyway - I have no problem with the mix. I have a problem with the music - I still enjoy the album, but I have much bigger expectation for the second record

"Borderline" means "almost," "dealbreaker" means "it ruined everything"...?

So it was almost a dealbreaker, it almost ruined everything?

Sorry if this was confusing.

What I meant is that I love Fucked Up in spite of the fact that vocals are difficult to listen to. But it almost makes me want to stop listening.

....

I understand, but I don't get how that's a criterion that could ruin music or be a borderline dealbreaker

LOL I dunno it's like, bagels, man. I love bagels. But sometimes they're so chewy. It's just so much work.

These vocals sound buried to you? They sound fine to me...
