dude.. fo realz? that would be awesome! sooo.... how do I pay? I mean.. paypal?
Hrrrmmm... I'll just have to figure out how to pay at the us amazon store... they don't accept paypals...
I'd be willing for you to PayPal me the funds and then I'd buy it from Amazon or wherever else and then ship it to you when it gets here.
PM if you are interested and we can sort it out.

Certainly the Kindle is a competitor to the iPad but Amazon definitely does not have as many apps for the Kindle. I feel like the Kindle is perfect for those who just want a nice, portable media consumption device and the iPad is that plus more tools for those who want to use it to create as well.
I'm going back and forth between the Fire and iPad and can't really decide

ya the ipad def has the benefits of all the apps and whatnot, but the kindle looks like a nice alternative without breaking the bank

@MEZ: I'll pm you when I get to a pc. Thanks,mate!
I only want to get the fire because I can't afford any other tablets... and it looks like a pretty awesome deal. I'm probably going to put a custom OS-rom on it so the limited apps don't bother me at all.

the screen is the difference for me. i have a laptop, anything i want to do on the go that my phone won't do, the iPad won't.... so it doesn't make much sense for me.
but the screen on the Kindle (the OG and V2 'uns.... i haven't looked at a Fire yet) doesn't refresh, so it's just like looking at a piece of paper. for just a portable, hold all of your books, you're able to download a new one whenever you want to device, the Kindle's the best Just Book replacement out there.

My sister has one of the last gen Kindles and loves it. Apparently you can get ones that run ads as a screensaver at a discounted cost, but then the ads are actually for good things, like free Amazon gift cards and stuff, so she's made a little money back on it.
I discovered Reverend guitars today. I want this one:

Just as I was giving up hope, my compact faye sing arrived today! It's smaller than I expected and absolutely GORGEOUS in person, if only it wasn't too early to play (or I lived in a house with people who get up and do things in the morning).

Edit
First impression after playing really quietly for half an hour, it's amazing! Huge range of sounds, really to subtle to really intense, a hella nice clean boost (resonance does some cool tone control things)

, probably most importantly handles fuzz really well, a few times I thought "this sounds pretty tame with the phaser on" then I turned it off and it sounded pretty much the same (-phasing), it's just because I had my amp turned down. This + TAFM=

Kicks the crap out of every other phaser I've tried, I can't wait to try it loud/on bass/loud on bass.

I'm hoping the Fire drives down the price of the iPad a little, probably a long shot but iPods got a lot cheaper over the years

only thing that would interest me in an ipad would be a SD slot. i'm so annoyed at the $100 for 4 more gigs of RAM pricing policy Apple does. it's such a transparent price gouge.
sigh. that said, i have an iphone 3gs and am probably going to get the 64 gig 4s. i'm out of room for musics. damn it.
