So I finally got rid of my Eden Tube amp. What can I say other than I miss it. But! The amp I got now is equally as awesome and has WAY more tonal options. So I'm pretty happy. I traded a guy locally for a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 12.0
My amp was worth a bit more, but he was a cool older dude and I decided to trade him straight up.
It's a hybrid I guess would be the term. Part tube, part solid state. Has two different channels (FET and Tube Preamp). You can use the tube side or the solid state side or blend them. Which is fucking AWESOME. You can overdrive the fucking shit out of the tube side. Sounds as good as any OD I've fucked with. What is also cool is that it has an effects loop on the back of the amp, which I've never used before. FUCKING KILLER! You can run one side of the amp clean and the other side dirty. WHO THE FUCK NEEDS A CLEAN BLEND???? You don't need one when you do that shit! Or you can run all the effects through the preamp section. SO many options. Plus it comes with a footswitch that lets you switch from tube, mixed signal, l.f. boost, mid scoop (very awesome!), and h.f. attack
So cool. And it's powerful as fuck. I could run two 600 watt amps on this sucker with no issues at all. GOD! SO LOUD.
Anyway, I'll shut up and show a pic (bad pic).
This bitch weighs 6lbs! 6! Hahahahahahahaha

I'm in a conundrum on a guitar amp. I'm needing something versatile and can be cranked without being loud for home practice and recording.
Being mainly a bassist I settled on a cheap Pignose G40V for guitar use with the realization that I'm never gonna gig with it. Hell I planned on never really gigging as a guitarist but I'm feeling the itch to start putting together some music and form a band and playing guitar in it. Even in the home setting; I'm becoming more a more disenfranchised with the Pignose. It was fine to start out with and I'm not that $deep$ into it. The G40V is a tube amp but the tone stack is just way too honky and abrasive; no matter how I EQ it. Probably cops SRV tones fine but I'm not trying to play that shit. I tried putting a better speaker in it. I tried putting preamp tubes poached from an old Hammond in it. At this point it's not worth me experimenting/sinking money into it any more.
So It's a toss up. I could go with a TH30 but I thought hard on the OR15. I just don't think the OR15 will have the grunt that I want if and when I hit the stage.
I'm also thinking hard on a Dwarvenaut 20.
I'm already settled on a Cab which would be an Avatar 2x12 contemporary with speakers to be determined.
Unfortunately I'm a broke sumbitch so in the interim,...I may try to hook up with the cab and pick up a Blackstar HT-1 or HT-5 to replace my current at home rig which is the hella crappy Pignose; shown here in this mancave picture.

I could have a lead on an Epi Valve Jr head as well for ~$100 That would be the cheapest route and I could rely on pedals for my gainy sounds. That amp seems so limited though.
I do ultimately want the TH30 or the Dwarvenaut 20; I just gotta save up the scratch.

If you're plan is a low watt head, I would seriously consider getting Eminence Wizards then. They're sensitivity is, like, 103dB. May just be the most efficient speaker
Avatar offers. I use them myself in a 2x12 (I've already mentioned this, but I'm sayin' it again anyways), and they pound. They're kinda middy, and emphasize highs. However they're NOTHING like V30s, in my opinion. V30s have a weird upper mid thing that just wrecks/hurts my ears, in a bad way. Wizards are a bit more balanced to my ears.
Something to consider.
