My board for a post-alternative-rock band where I play bass!

Chain is: Boss HM2 DIY Clone (offboard) > Drop > Superego > Mooer Reecho (it's an amazing mini delay pedal!) > Angel Teeth > Boss CE5 > Throat Locust > BSRI SFG > MS70CDR > Timeline (with an AMT expression pedal and a Midibaby 3 to control the TL looper)

i realize it’s heresy in pedal communities, but i haven’t changed a thing on my boards since February and the only thing that might change is adding the Scalable Pet somewhere, which would be tough since there’s no room on the big board, little on the FEB, and less on the looping board where it’d have no purpose. if it impresses me in tests it’ll go somewhere. no, i am NOT starting a 4th board at this time.

had wayyyyyy too many pedals slash too complicated a routing path with the larger board i was "using" (quotes because i NEVER FUCKING USED IT), put this together for bass or synths or drum machines noise noodles. MUCH more fun.

excellent cat. here’s my Otis laying next to the Princeton Reverb on top of the 1x12” cabinet with the Weber JBL clone. he also likes my shoes so this is a double win for him.

dood. Voids and shoes. we have 5 or 6 cats right now (one is technically a foster from our backyard, where two of the PermaKitResidents came from, but i'm pretty sure my wife will fall in love with him before we find him a home), 2 are Voids, when i get from work they BECOME ONE with my shoes.

i mean, i wash dogs all day, so they have that Good Funk on them. i guess?

but still.

my previous cat preferred dirty shirts. they're all odd in their own ways.

oh jia. i mean, we officially have six right now. FOSTER FAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL. AGAIN.

but some love diving into my dirty hamper, some lounge on clean clothes, some just want whatever is the most inconvenient place for them to be at any given time.

all are beautiful in their choices.

i would love to have another cat, but i live in a 4-room apartment (counting the office alcove off the front room and the bathroom as a half-room each) and there’s not really anywhere two cats could get away from each other. and Otis’s personality is so big that he fills up the space. he’s extremely gregarious and everybody loves him…the techs at the vet compete to see who takes care of him, and when i go away he stays at Becky’s dog sitter where he snuggles with their dogs and cats and finds an open lap. he’s laying on the floor by my feet right now.

which actually works into pedalboards because for the first time in months i have a board out…i’ve had the Normie Board in its case out in the living room for ages and finally got it out yesterday. i’ve been totally wrapped up in working on project guitars for most of the year and really needed a break. it was comforting to walk to the bedroom with the lights out and the LEDs on the Ghost Echo and Fender tremolo glowing and lighting up the room slightly.

i’m also testing some new pedals, the Fuzzhugger Scalable Pet and Phantom Arcade reissue and the Catalinbread Proto Club Pads, which is a peculiar little device that combines reverb, tremolo, and modulation in ways i don’t really understand but are quite interesting.

i think i need new guitar cables, though…i’ve been having interference problems where the board is dead quiet but the guitar—which has humbuckers—seems to be picking up RF interference, but only when it’s plugged into the board. it’s fine straight into the amp.

aw, jeez, i guess i should do a list.

old TC PolyTune->EMMA Discumbobulator v1->Animals Pedal Vintage Van Driving Is Very Fun (Bluesbreaker with extended range/options)->Höfner Fuzz->Danelectro 3699 (Foxx Tone Machine)->Empress Nebulus multi-modulation->Fender MTG Tube Tremolo->EQD Ghost Echo v2. i selected the pedals to give me the widest possible range from a small board for relatively normal music…the big board is total overkill for regular settings.

foreground, L to R: Catalinbread Pads, Fuzzhugger Phantom Arcade, Fuzzhugger Scalable Pet dual boost.

when i need delay i can run it off the PolyTune’s 9V output, assuming it doesn’t exceed the PT’s current capacity which after rather more Googling than seems necessary i established is apparently 2A.

turns out the interference issues were 100% cable-related. now i have to weed out the other ones that are fucked and replace them.
