Cool board! I switch a lot and I've contemplated getting one of those. Can't decide whether it would be better or worse though with having 3 cables running around to trip over

i love the lights! i'm an old hippie, so if you show me colored lights i start to drool.

at some point i'm going to wind up having to implement a multiple-input box at the start of the chain, and/or a mixer where multiple things can get sent to the signal chain, loopers, and/or amp. if i keep developing like i am i could be running guitar, bass, synth, and drum machine as part of an improv or composition, and i know i'll want to run the synth/drums through effects. i don't even have a synth yet, but i'm planning ahead. i don't even want to conceptualize about it until i have a better idea of what i'll be using.

i have to say that i'm utterly delighted with how the big system is working. the only thing i want to do is try a MicroTron IV in the EF position, and perhaps switch out the MK III Tone Bender for something with less fizz. Jero's HAXAN appeals with its dense, Eno-esque sound which would make a nice contrast to the toppier stuff. some of the boxes are a bit fussy--you have to be very ginger with the Farm Pedals Expanding Universe reverb or it starts acting like a slapback delay--but they're all playing well together. i had to turn on the buffered bypass on the Peterson tuner because something was leaking into the FEB, this time discumbobulating the Farm reverb. i'm pretty sure the problem is the MXR power supplies, which i'll replace presently. for now the tuner buffer has my little FEB digi-minions happy. so i can concentrate on guitar projects, organizing a home studio environment, and getting my slate of dead amplifiers revived.

The 3way box worked out mostly well on the gig. Only issue is I had my stand on the wrong side of the board.. I might have to move it.. but.. sure made switching fast… it shortened our set too much.. and I didn’t bring my 3rd instrument (cello) because I thought the day would be a clusterfuck… turns out is was low key.. people demanded more songs… we pulled people away from the main stage (Rodger Fisher) we had to play the first song again  so I recommend the things :thumb:

i decided to do a Small, Sensible Board for applications where i don't need to shift space and time quite so radically. so far the plan is:

--tuner: i'll use my old Polytune
--1 distortion: 3xfx Fatman or Höfner Fuzz
--1 fuzz: Devi Ever White Spider or Danelectro 3699
--envelope filter--i'll move the Discumbobulator when i get the MicroTron for the main board
--modulation--see below
--tremolo: Fender MTG Tube Tremolo
--delay: TBD
--reverb: EQD small box Ghost Echo (v.2)

the mod and delay slots are up for grabs. i'd like to find a unit that does chorus, flanger, phaser, and rotary. so far i have a couple of candidates, but suggestions would be welcome. i have to think about what i need for a delay in normie settings. the simple thing would be to use my RV-3, which i know inside and out, but something with more sounds appeals. i wouldn't say no to another EXH Canyon. this should all fit on one of the wee Pedaltrain boards with a power supply underneath. i rather like the idea of not buying anything new other than the MicroTron for the big board and a modulation unit--i snagged the Ghost Echo cheap on eBay--and also am happy to get to use stuff i like that doesn't fit the main board sound. i love all those dirt boxes and the Fender tremolo, which is extremely versatile but doesn't do the specific things the 2 trems on the main board do. i can use the same volume pedal i use for the big system.

Joyo R-09 Vision does all these. You can choose two simultaneous effects that are either in parallel or series. It is a double-wide pedal though but it is also stereo in stereo out. And cheap.

how do you like the Farm pedals reverb? been curious about that one. looking for a new 'verb.....

i like it, but it's tricky...if it's not dialed in very carefully it acts like a slapback delay because there's no clean blend. probably best suited for a Stunt Reverb slot rather than as your only 'verb. that's what i'm using it for. it sounds great with the T-120 delay.

the lineup for the Normie Board is set. i decided i had to have a low-gain overdrive in addition to the Fuzz and MOAR FUZZ options, and that rather than getting a Boss Space Echo i'll work with the Akai Headrush sitting next to the board post-reverb, which gives me regular, multi-head, and looper options. the signal path will be:

TC Polytune v.1->Marshall Guv'nor II->Höfner Fuzz->Danelectro 3699->EMMA Discumbobulator v.1 envelope filter->Empress Nebulus multi-modulation->Fender MTG Tube Tremolo->EQD Ghost Echo v.2 (small box, same circuit)[->optional Akai Headrush E2]

i may try to set everything up in one tier on one of the Pedaltrain Nano boards, but that might be a bit too linear with 8 boxes three of which are half-wide (EF, tremolo) or double-wide (Empress). that's kind of wide for the coffee table. if i have to lose something it'd be the 3699, but it's SO UGLY and makes some sick noises with the octave up.

as noted elsewhere, the Micro-Tron IV is so much better than the EMMA that i'm just going to order a second one. i have to decide for now whether to put the one that's here on the big board or the Normie Board. other than that everything stays the same. considering getting a larger board than strictly necessary so i can reuse the Gator power supply, which has enough oomph to power the Tube Tremolo on two of its outputs. it sort of goes against the downsizing vibe, but it's cheaper than buying another high-output 8-output power supply. it leaves the ominous possibility of expansion, though, which i'm kind of trying to guard against.
