Ok. So I have these things I call background processes - where like I set part of my mind thinking about something, and then it continues on its own until it figures out the answer or remembers what I'm trying to remember. Totally separate from my conscious mind. I don't even remember setting them going, until they finish. Sometimes they go on for incredibly long amounts of time, even if it's only for something trivial. Well, the longest one I ever set going just finished. It's been over 15 years. The name of the book I read when I was really young (like 5 or 6 or 7) that I couldn't remember was "Space Brat".

Your thesis, eh? That sounds intriguing.
What's your topic?

Whoa! I actually know what that feels like. Not sure, I've had one go for 15 years though.

Apparently 15 years is how long it takes my brain to remember the words "Space Brat"

I was just sitting in my cubicle and suddenly those words popped into my head along with several books worth of information (short though they were), and the awareness that I have had a bit of brain power devoted to doing nothing but trying to remember that since I was a child.

I don't think I've ever had one of those go on for longer than 2 or 3 years. It's usually just weeks or sometimes months.

mine usually don't go for more than a few hours. i'm totally accustomed, though, to that sort of lag...for example, i knew that eventually i'd remember the verse of "Bad" by U2 that i couldn't remember last night, and sure enough there it was at about 9:30 this morning, 13 hours late.

I'm hungry.
Also, deciding priorities so I don't waste time and become awesome instead of lame. I hate excuses, I can do it all, I'm just lazy and badly organized. -_-
