I believe it's more of an input attenuator than an external volume control though. The guy who had it done was using it with a lap steel and thought the high output of his pickups would've hit the circuit too hard.

Interesting. I've tried it with my lap steel and had no such concerns. The horseshoe in my steel's pretty hot too. :idk:

Yea, I've seen hot pickups in steels but my usual rule (that gets a better answer from makers) is "can it handle line signal?"

Yeah, I think it was ill-conceived.

As Chankgeez says, the hotter output was never really a problem anyway.

I think it'd be much more useful it was attached to master volume... as it stands it just kills the signal to noise ratio, and since the pedal is on the noisier side as it is, it's just not really useful at all really.

So, Joel, this begs the question: could you make the volume trimmer external?

:snax:

Sure, it's just a regular old analog control though so it doesn't save with presets or anything.

it was also a giant pain to do, but anything for Chankgeez.

ah, ha, thanks, Joel.

Not sure I really need it. I've still got a lot of tinkering to do with settings. Also, not sure how often I'll be changing settings. So, might be just as easy to adjust the volume on other pedals which already have a volume control. I did try ramping the Zero though. It's awesome. It's also a little louder than some of the settings I've been using.

Yeah I've been playing with it for a few hours and it stays on 10. Since I'm just playing it on a standard old 6 string, here's really no need for it, sound wise, from what I can tell. (Excuse my technical terminology)

If I lost this spectre, I would get another one in a heartbeat, but would save Joel the hassel of putting the extra knob on.
But it looks freakin awesome and the pedal alone is just unbelievable. Still trying to wrap my mind around it.

Spectres gonna spect.
