Speaking of, have you ever thought of collaborating with / licensing your designs to someone who could produce more pedals than you're able to?

I indeed do hope they are proficient at sucking cock, that would at least make them useful to some people, as their Sonic Crayon rape is pretty useless.

I have thought of licensing, and I have no idea how that would work. I'm terrible at calling shots. Also, I'm terrified of the idea, even if it's a potentially good one.

Might be worth asking some other companies, like Malekko for example. Josh (Mr Malekko) also owns Darkplace manufacturing, which manufactures modules for several other modular brands. They also make pedals and they're nice people, so they could have a decent idea of what'd be involved in making moar of these cool pedals of yours...

thing is, one major reason why my batches are often delayed is because I'm stressed out about something else. so I put that on hold. I get stressed out. if I were to license things, I imagine the potential for stress to be an order of magnitude higher, because of problems with communication, the huge amounts of money involved, risks, and potentially making other people miserable because a fuckup of mine.

at least, when I'm doing everything myself, I control everything, even if it means I can't produce many, or frequently. lose-lose

Aren't the Malekko guys good? I've heard nothing but good things on their quality. If anything, I'd be willing to pitch in on a small batch, for you to test the waters. I'm sure others here in ILF would too.

Hm, then again outsourcing would save you an enormous amount of time. The way I see it, you basically submit a design and have them build it for you, seems simple. It would be less of your current work in progress approach though, in order to make this less stressing you would have to settle for a single design and have that produced (at least for a while). The way you oftentimes make revisions and newer versions of the circuits is counterproductive to this sort of endeavour. I guess it's a matter of what model suits you personally. If done right I don't think that it would be more stressful to have your stuff produced elsewhere or by a solder monkey though.

It's a different process, you basically have to explain what you want to other people and make sure that you communicate all the information properly. Which can generate stress :animal: . But after that you don't have to solder/assemble/etc. anything, which is nice too.

I mentioned Malekko because they have their own manufacturing company now and they're great people, there might be other good options. The point is, asking people like them for info can't hurt, they know how this stuff is done...

Also, I'm pretty sure a limited run of maybe 50 or 100 would pre-sell pretty easily, given the demand for your stuff :).

Anyway, no pressure. You've just got good designs that people are interested in, hence all the attention here... :joy:

Yeah stepping out of your comfort zone might be good if you want to expand the business
Clearly a lot of people here would be more than happy to support a small test run
That being said, don't do something that's going to make your life stressful and miserable just because we're poking you :poke:
But yeah questions really couldn't hurt too badly :idk:

Outsourcing stuff is good when it works.

Getting to the point where it works is, in my experience, a pile of crap and not at all an activity I'd recommend someone wanting to avoid stress.
