This shot has got bits of almost all my amps in it:

There's a little green custom one I use a lot that's not in there. That, the "Hiwatt" and the Red amp are all made by a friend of mine and based on JCM800s pretty much but with different power sections. The "Hiwatt" however, has a front end kind of like a Soldano and the actual power section of a Hiwatt (Partridge Transformers, etc) but also has a half power mode. They all love most dirt pedals except for that amp. That amp is like hey fuck you I am already totally dirty and you may use only delays and reverbs and modulation and maybe a savior machine on me. What is that? A big muff? FUCK YOU.

Just about finished with my Marshall 8x10 to 4x12 conversion. This cab has been collecting dust in my storage for three years. Stoked to finally start using it. Just gotta load the quad of old Celestion 65's I have in there. Here it is with my Sunn Sorado on top of it. Figured this would be a good place to post it.

So you opted out of the 10" speakers in the end? That was probably the best for you as investing in eight ten inchers is pretty costly, in particular if you don't like 10" speakers that much. Did you do the conversion yourself? I must say that it looks killer and I LOVE the placement of the logo! Sure looks a lot like mine except for the logo placement:

Yeah, man, thanks! I really wanted to keep it as an 8x10 since I have two other cabs with 12's, but I couldn't find any 10" speakers that I enjoyed at the volumes I play, and with the amount of dirt and type of amps I use. Everything broke up early and got a hair nasaly from a lot of what I experienced, but mainly just for my taste. Nothing wrong with them. And yeah, on top of that, buying eight 10's was very costly. Specially for the higher watt speakers I was interested in. Figured this way I can stay safe knowing which 12's I love, and I can start keeping my 2x12 at home for practice. Just made more sense.
The bass player of one of my bands owns a window/door shop with a HUGE wood shop in his building. He was nice enough to let me go in there and help me tackle the project. I kept the old baffle intact if in case I ever want to turn it back into an 8x10. New baffle is all new parts from the brace bar to the trim and screws. Used half inch birch ply everything seem to fit just fine. I'm really stoked to finally start using it after all these years.
Here it is without the grill, as we worked on the angle/fitting:

While I love 10s and think it would be super epic for an 8x10, you probably made the smart move with a 4x12. It looks KILLER.

Hey how do you like the sunn sorado for guitar? I just won one on ebay and I'm kinda getting buyers remorse because I kinda wasn't expecting to win and part of me wants more synths. What are your feels on the sorado?

I love it. It sounds beefier than the Twin Reverb I had. Has smooth yet gritty break up when you push it. Takes pedals excellently, big round low end (tube rectifier can be replaced with a solid state for less sag), nice chime on the high end, I think it sounds best with fat wound single coils like a good P90 and some mid boosted speakers and/or pedals, anything scooped might not cut through since the mids are fixed flat. I think it's a killer guitar amp. I prefer it over the two Ampeg V4's I had. Much more character on the high end and stayed cleaner longer, even at half the wattage.

That looks amazing. You'll fuck with stoners minds with that.
"Wut? So you're saying there's 12" speakers in there? And where are the 10" speakers gone? They can't be gone. 10" speakers don't just get up and disappear. It's physics, maaaan. It's a 10" speaker cabinet. 12" wouldn't fit. Dude, sacrilege. Put my mind at ease and stop fucking with me. It's 10" speakers, isn't it? It's not?! DUDE... I'M GEEKIN' OUT RIGHT NOW!!

Welcome, Hiwatt Bob. I have my eye on a '73 Orange OR120 non-master volume model.
