Switches in a country's political leaders inc. ideology is initially of benefit to angry music less so for happy popsters. Take advantage of the lack of fuzz in the world right now. This forum already has any user on the right track.

This is the first election I've ever participated in for precisely this reason. Not just the 'ugh, I can't behind any of these candidates' issue, but the 'I don't think any of this shit matters' issue. Voting was really more an exercise (for me) in washing my hands of what I consider to be some evil (too strong? Dangerous) rhetorical and political choices.

Meaning I voted for Hillary, god help me.

No puppet, no puppet. You're the puppet.

And not to take this in a batshit new direction, but why is there some assumption that there has to be one person at the top of political structures? There are functional models where courts/councils/cabals help to govern...pushing one person forward to be the big boss seems like such a goofy and antiquated measure for making decisions.

(I know why; just annoyed that we cling to that practice.)

Forget where I read this but the US is now the longest-functioning democracy of its kind (constitutional democracy, maybe? I forget the criteria, excuse me for being vague) that hasn't succumbed to a coup or a violent transition of power. The second closest is Chile, apparently, but obviously Pinochet fucked up that record.

Chile is such a cute country. It's so skinny, but so long! (Or fat and very short if you look at it the other way)

You know who orchestrated the coup against Allende and the rise to power of Pinochet? Fun fact, it happened on a September 11th.

that awkward moment when you know the answer but you're not sure if it's a rhetorical question.

Doesn't the Civil War kinda count as a violent transition of power, though?

Beyond obviously being a murderous psycho, Pinochet also had the gall to destroy this amazing piece of 70s futuristic socialist goodness. I mean come on...
