Actually, Bill Finnegan has a purple anodized Centaur enlcosure he's never used. He was afraid the lubricants used in machining would make the color run. If he were a real man, he'd build it up for me.

Alright - - PURPLE SPRAYPAINT BRAINSTORMING - -

I've got to do something about the rubbery plastic side panels on my Moog Little Phatty, the coating has oxidized I guess and is sticky. My research says the non-caustic solution is hot water, a wash cloth and lots of friction and effort. Then I will spraypaint purple.
I would love to find some kind of heavy duty epoxy based finish that could go down without all the prep but I don't think there's anyway around scrubbing that coating off and getting down to the hard plastic.

It would please me to throw them out and start with new panels from Moog but they won't sell me any or help in any way with discontinued products.

I'm not a regular paint shopper and usually the five year interval or so will psyche me up with the current state of innovation in canned and sprayed paints.

Oh my, that rubber dip for tool handles would look so good in a glossy purple on my moog. Or some of that Krylon metal flake.

Don't do it. I tried to get that rubber shit off the knobs from my Minibrute2 and it was not only a total mess but didn't come out very good as well. It's that stupid "soft touch" gunk stuff, right? I advise to just order some wooden sides from the internets.

yeah that soft touch rubber coating that turns to goo they were using like 15 years ago on lots of electronics remotes etc.

Before the pandemic there were at least three companies selling wooden side panels, there were a couple synth parts for repair galore webshops and even Moog at one point would stand behind their products and help you out - but they are all out of help / stock / hope or something.

This Moog Little Phatty Stage II has been out of production for a while but I think they still make a synth with the same side panels but the new Moog doesn't sell parts or even give helpful or on topic replies to emails anymore. I thought it sounded good when it was announced Moog was going forward as an employee owned company after Bob died but the company as it's being run today is terrible in my opinion. That's another thread.

I'm going to Lowe's sometime this week to see what the Purple SParay Paint situation 2022 is all about!
