Ok real talk: I’m aggravated that my plan was I’ll-conceived or thwarted by inane bullshit. I wanted to be of use. I played by the rules. I did the work. I earned the dumbass trophies you need to win to gain access.
I even work at a shit place that supposedly helps people who were like me: come from bad families, bad cities, have no money or resources to speak of. Turns out I’m powerless to do any real shit, and this place is as evil and debased a corporation as any.
My choices are to suckle at the teat of elitism and go back to a big fancy school, or to be ground into dust at a degree mill that doesn’t even graduate its students.
Home life is amazing, it just seems dumb and strange and alienating that one has to spend every hour of daylight doing pointless tasks to keep that going.
Disappointed. Not even for me (though I’m self-interested!), but that I’m basically as well-off as anyone in history and we still haven’t figured this shit out.
