Back on topic, I measured the temp on my coffee this morning. It was almost exactly 190 when I started brewing, but after four minutes sitting and brewing in my press it was a nice 150 perfect for pouring all over my genitals. Guys I think we can all get along here, just don't serve your coffee at the same temp you brew it!

I make cold brew coffee at home and it shrinks my junk.

That reminds me. Don't masturbate with Crisco.

It's shortening.

Cold brew is in fact the shit. How long do you steep it for?

12 hours minimum, longer if I start it earlier. I just need coffee in the morning and can't always wait 24 hours!

I do 12 too! Although there's a place in town I got to that steeps for like 32 hours or some shit and then cuts it with water to serve and it's amazing. They also keg it with nitro and I don't know what I'm gonna do without them when I move.

I really dig the taste. But also, I can't overstate this, the instant gratification of having coffee the instant you want it, in the fridge, at all times.

Yeah there's less acidity in cold brew. I'm gonna start doing that again, you've inspired be Dark Barn.

Also, the nitro tap! I'be seen it a few places and have been tempted, but the thrift in me always says no, since it costs a little more, and is a step into uncharted fancy land. But based on your post, next time I will give it a whirl!

It's mostly a textural thing, it kinda feels like you're drinking Guinness. I totally recommend it.

Every time we've tried cold brew it tastes like shit. I don't know what we're doing wrong tbh.

I like really dark roasts for it, what kind have you tried?

It's been a good year and half since we bothered but we generally get lighter roasts coz that's what tastes best with aeropress (and I think more caffeine than dark?)

yeah I think cold brew is pretty forgiving, but you might need to change up your beans. I like medium-dark roast best for it, not quite the darkest roasts. Although to be honest I haven't made anything undrinkable this way, even using light roasts.

I think, because we like the aeropress, there's an effort/reward disparity when doing anything that needs more time/effort than just scoop, stir, press. I promise I don't work for aeropress.

Hoppin in on the coldbrew talk, my roommate and I make our own as well! We do 18-24 hours for our brew time, but we like it strong. I highly recommend dark roasts with medium-ground beans. Too fine of a grind and you'll get more bitterness.

I've not tried Nitro coffee, but I fucking hated nitro beer. Nitrogenation is less bite-y than carbonation, and it always just ended up tasting like someone had poured a bunch of water in my beer to me. I could see it working better with some nice cold brew though.
