NAMM's not really about playing shit. It's about selling shit.

It's almost near impossible to really hear anything in there. The only real way to hear anything is through headphones.

More about selling concepts and supply for a lot of people there. Press usually just gives cards and gets a general impression. Some of the bigger companies have sound rooms.

Some companies still have bikini models and stuff.

Not give me your best world-class exhibition in cerebral virtuosity within a crowded trade show center. I don't want to see it behind a glass case like it's a Fabergé artwork. I want to hear the fucking thing.

Yes, I know NAMM is a wash of disjointed sounds like an elementary school cafeteria. I know it's a corporatized event for schmoozing and ass-kissing, but the way to get people to buy audio equipment is through auditory examples. I just want someone to upload some sounds to the Web, so that I can hear the gear. Other builders provide audio examples of their stuff in advance or during the show. It makes no sense that such a practice isn't a more universal habit.
