I tried the DBA Apocalypse the other day and I thought it could do a pretty convincing clarinet when maxed out on the 4th or 5th setting, or alternatively you could also try one of those Dimehead PLL's maybe. :D
I might have one of those incoming, just waiting on some information about remote switching the multiplier and divider functions.

EDIT:
The "air" thing and slow attack is probably the difficult part of that clarinet sound I guess, I don't know, I use a Pigtronix Philosopher King for something similar but it's not completely there yet either, I should try it together with the Apocalypse to see what that does, the Swell Reverb setting on the new Strymon BigSky seems suitable for those kind of effects as well, I'm very curious about that.

Thanks, Tristan, yeah, I'd like to try a PLLone if I'm ever able to scrape together enough money.

Yeah, do this and, please, let me know what you think.

I've been thinking of trying a LAL Sandstorm, but I'd need to sell something to get one.

I'll try if I can get to that, I don't have the Apocalypse (yet), it belongs to a friend of mine who owns a shop here in Haarlem. :)
Hmm, for that Sandstorm type of sound I think a bitcrusher on lower settings could work as well, I can get stuff like that with my Hexe Bitcrusher III and it's probably more versatile.
The Air Traffic Controller and the to be released Dr Scientist BitQuest could be interesting pedals for this kind of sound as well.
I'd say a chain of effects like this could possibly get close to a bass clarinet type sound:
ADSR / Envelope -> (Octave Down) -> (Bitcrusher / White Noise Generator) -> Clarinet / Trumpet Style Fuzz -> (Deep Filter)

DL4, Super Ego, Zoom MS70 for the Super Ego loop, Digidelay, volume pedal.
Thus would complete my desire to perform evolving soundscapes.

You know, DL4 + volume pedal would sure be pretty sick for that. Now you've got me thinking too...

Mhmm. I mainly want the DL4 for looping. Having two (or more) loopers seems essential for transitional ambient shit in real time. & a volume pedal is waaaay easier for control distortion levels than a volume pot.

Man I'm gassin' for a volume pedal too, using the volume knob sucks if you have to do it repeatedly.

"Some repairs made to the guitar... A real vintage guitar for players. Not a collector piece."

For $700, this concerns me.

well those oddball 70's SGs don't have the greatest neck joint design in the world so the neck might have been off.. or they stripped it.. looks like there was a trem or something once.. might have snapped the head.. hard to say.. a gibson style guitar must ALWAYS haz a shot of the back of the peghead for me to be interested at all unless it is dirt cheap.
