I've never built a guitar before, but how hard could it be? =) Burn that body a little, stain it a dark walnut, hit it with Tru-Oil....
The only thing I don't like is the. 24.75" scale length otherwise I'd build one in a heart beat.

Ordered a kit. I'll do a build thread for it as things progress.

Big Thanks again! I couldn't be happier with it. Nothing past the talking about it stage yet but we are wanting to come down to Portland come the new year.

The Kit build should be pretty straight forward. If it's like the other kits I've had, there will be some minor fitment issues, nothing I can't handle. I'll report on all that as it goes along. Right now there are two people interested in having one built but nothing confirmed. I'm going to go ahead and get one to near finished status and at that time if they want it, that will determine the finish, if not, I'll just do whatever I like and offer it to the greater ILF community in the BST. Looks like it will be in my hands on the 12th so I'll start a thread then.

A lot of them were posted a few years ago on CL. I should of hopped on some but never bit. Sometimes a 2x12 or two will pop up here and there. Slow liquidation.

i've seen a one or two of sleep's 4x12's come up for sale over the years. pretty beat by the time they hit the market it seemed. the history is cool, but as far as tone, i just don't think there's that much magic to a cab. don't see bass 4x12's all that often though. if it is high on fire's cab, i think it's cool that the seller isn't trying to hype that in their ad.

EDIT: just looked at the pictures. i guess they're not exactly making a secret of it's heritage either, but i reckon the engraving is something buyers would want to know about.

They never pop for sale here, the guitarist I bought my Wizard from had 2 and said he sold them to buy more Orange 4x12's because they actually sounded better to him. :idk: And the shop he sold them too wants like $1100 each

From what I've read most of the Sleep rig was purchased by Hank 3 which is pretty cool in its own right. And your right theres not much magic to a cab but to have the cabs used on dopesmoker would have a really cool story and nostalgia behind em. I do agree that its pretty cool that the seller's not hyping that its a HoF cab but atleast shows the engraving as not to hide it.

Not sure where you're located, but obviously it makes sense they pop up in the SF Bay Area CL from time to time, which is the one I'm always lurking since I live near by. Looking back I'm surprised I didn't hop on any of them, I have a green emperor 212, it would have been nice next to a green Matamp. I'm thinking about getting some new cabs too which might be green as well, ha.

Im just outside of Washington DC in Northern Virginia. :mope: I've got plenty of Emperor Cabs and really a perfect setup for both my heads but since I've acquired the green tolexed Wizard my OCD habits have me wanting a Green 4x12 + 2x15 to replace my Emperors but the cost and lack of advantages has luckily kept my GAS at bay for now. That and I kinda like having one perfectly matched mega stack in perfect condition and my gigging stack which is mismatched and beat up so I don't feel guilty about it.Still trying to find some new 15's for my 2x15 though as right now I have a 260w 4x12 and a 1000w 2x15 running on the same amp and the more I play the more I realize that the 4x12 is way louder than the 2x15 and I want to balance them out like my big stack is but finding 125w 15's that sound good is impossible. I will probably eventually break down and see if I can get WGS to custom make me 2 125w versions of their 75w 15's.

Look into how much output the speakers put out in dB's, and match them to your 4x12. I'm sure maybe you know this already, but for instance, if your 4x12 has 97dB speakers (like most celestions) then the cab is 103dB's. Then all you'll need are 15" speakers that are 100-101dB's each and it'll match the 412. EV's and JBL's are usually that loud. I like the EV SRO myself though it's super dark. And, of course, there are plenty of Eminence options that are rated high too.

As far as the matching stacks, sometimes I find it neat and sometimes I find it cheesy. Idk what it is, haha. I guess it depends what brand, but green stacks don't come often so I'm sure it would look wicked rad. I love the way Emperor finished my green 212. I wouldn't mind getting matching stuff if I ever get something from them again (we've gotten like 9 cabs from them, haha)

Unfortunately WGS and Weber don't openly display the Db ratings on all their speakers so I'm kinda left guessing at this point. The ET65's are listed and rated at 98.02 so the cab is around 104db so I'd need 102db 15's to really balance it out, but I've also found that matching the wattage ratinga s close as possible makes a big difference too. Say the 4x12 is 104db and 260w and the 2x15 is 100Db and 200w then your pushing the 15's a lil harder than the 4x12 causing a perceived increase in output. So as I'd ideally like to match both the Db and the wattage its most likely not gonna happen, and since most 15's aren't 100db it makes it even harder. I will probably go with Weber Michigan 15's (Webers EV copies) like I have in my 3x15 as they match pretty damn well with the weber 65's in my 6x12, its just that i'll basically have identical speaker combos in my stacks and I was wanting something a lil different. But if I do go with the m15's then I'll have a 200w 2x15 (they don't list the Db on webers site) so if the Db rating is lower or similar then I should be at least close to similar volumes.

Dude that mini stack is beautiful  That green stain is killer, I love how the grain still pops out and gets really dark and rich in some areas.

for reference the stack I'm talking about is the one on the right in this pic:

The EVs in that 212 are loud as hell too. That half stack keeps up with a 412 without breaking a sweat.
