That is a sick case. Wow! I'm already regretting only a 12U 84hp case. I wish I at least went with 104hp.

Also traded my Rene for a Xoac Moskwa (and some cash) and I am enjoying it a lot. Didn't really realize how much I wasn't enjoying the complexity of the Rene until I got the Moskwa. Probably going to spend the money on a Mix4 or Mte4 or both since I am seriously lacking mixers and would prefer to use my Frames in quad LFO mode

Missed out on that Frequensteiner trade though :(

So uh, I guess I'm planning on doing this instead of building a guitar because this stuff seems way way cooler to me. I'm pretty sure my first draft here is just me not knowing what the fuck I'm doing though. Thinking it's probably a better idea to drop the Maths for now until I know what I'm doing. Help me people who know better.

Unless there is another module that can allow me to slice, playback, control splice size, etc at my fingertips as well as the Phonogene, that is staying. The Phonogene is a huge reason I'm choosing modular over a guitar, because it's as close to an Anti-Nautilus as I'll get.

I would definitely say to keep the Maths in there. It's a bit complicated, but it will teach you a lot of things about modular and it is capable of doing a ton of stuff from envelopes, to lfos, to waveshaping, glide, to ghetto sample and hold. I'd probably say to drop the Tides in favor of something like the STO or Dixie II actually since they'll save some HP and your system is small enough that I'm not sure you'd get to take full advantage of the advanced features it has. You can also drop the pittsburgh blank. That's a small enough gap that you won't have to worry about any cats climbing in it and your power supply will thank you for the circulation.

Well my new idea is to hope nobody finds this eBay auction I can bid on it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331643240610?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

I'll look into that stuff. I have the Tides in there because for some reason it's really appealing to me. Maybe I just like the ocean too much  I'll look into the other stuff though.

I also had the blanks in there because open holes kill my OCD for some reason. Probably wouldn't bother me in real life though.

other questions: what case / power supply are you using? Are you gonna get a keyboard or external sequencer for it? It might be a good idea to drop the pittsburgh sequencer for something like the Beatstep pro or SQ 1.

I have a Novation Ultranova right now that I think I should be able plug in through a 1/4"-3.5mm adapter. That was my plan for keyboard so far. That, or some musical noise generator like the Melody Mill.

I'm pretty hung up on the Sequencer right now. All of the module sequencers I find on MG seem like they're so much more than just step sequencers, so I'm thinking on that one right now.

As for case/power supply, I was going to go with the Happy Ending + Bento Box set because that's all I really know of and seems to be useful/decently priced.

Are you using the Novation as a sound source or as a controller? It doesn't seem to have a 1V/Oct out.

With the Pittsburgh Modular Ins/Outs thing I should be able to put a line level in through there and then output into the modular rig, right? I put that Ins/Outs thing in there so I could use pedals with my rig as well.

(Fuck it is woefully obvious I have no idea what I'm doing.)

Yeah, the labels on the pitts are a little funky. If you're trying to get sound out of the modular you use the top half, synth goes into the I 1/8" jacks and the lead to the amp goes to the O 1/4". If you're just using it for stomps though, ALM has a stomp box interface thing that might do you better.

It's also tiny.

Don't worry about not knowing what you're doing, it's a phase we all go through.
