Also assisted suicide in CO, oil disencentivized in ND, minimum wage raised in several states, and a number of other socially progressive propositions passed last night. Everything else is F U C K E D.
I know for my part, I intend to be more active in community protests around here & stand up against any further impediments to human rights. Never been to a protest before, but if I start to see Planned Parenthood defunding, threats to mosques or other religious sanctuaries, or generally regressive shit happening in my back yard I think hands-on participation is about the only hope we've got left. Other than that I'm gonna keep my head low, make my art, and hope for the best.

I apologize UC for being a dick. I'm just as frustrated as everyone else. I did not want Trump to win, and I did not want Clinton to win. This is a fucking nightmare to me, but what can we do. We must stick together. Sigh.
No offense taken. It was a passionate post. And I agree, you've got to work with what you've got as of this instant. Everyone will need to vent/celebrate (as we are doing now) and get on with doing their best.

An interesting day in America.
I think AIDS vs cancer is a good comparision, and Clinton was cancer, which is to say the slightly more preferred option of awful fucking malady.
There's lots of finger pointing, my favourite is "the Russians did it!" She lost because she was awful. That's it. She was a terrible candidate. She lost to Donald Trump, arguably not even an actual candidate. Had the Democratic Party not decided that she must win at all costs, had other names and faces stepped up in the Primaries (whether to back Sanders or O'Malley or as their own voice), then maybe it could've been different.
But it wasn't. The American people were basically force-fed Hillary Clinton from one of the only two "legitimate" parties.
And she was roundly rejected. Let her go back home to Chapaqua and write her memoirs. No one wants her in politics anymore.
Hopefully either the two big parties reorganize or at least re-assess, since they've both lost this year, or perhaps one of them will split loudly enough that we're forced to have a 3rd party in our electoral process that has some power.
But, probably not. Four years. Let's see how well that checks and balances thing works out.

I think Romney won the popular vote last time
No, Romney lost by about 5 million votes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_St ... tion,_2012 The Electoral College was established when the government was founded because of the disparity in population between states. The underpopulated states where afraid that the heavily populated states could monopolize power under a "one man, one vote" system, so the Electoral College was established to balance every voter having an equal say with every state having an equal say. (That's also why we have a bicameral Congress.) Today, the Electoral College hardly seems necessary.
