I see those Blacktop offset guitars and I think over and over about buying one and putting some weird pickups.

Dude they are amazing for the money, especially if you pickup a used one. Do it.

I'm really thinking of eventually picking one of those up and throwing some WRHB's in there. Kinda like a short scale hardtail lee ronaldo sig model.

I've got a Toronado with WRHB's in it. Those things sound good as hell.

Nasal and bright, not as spanky as single coils packing a pound like humbuckers. Kinda like P90s in the idea but approaching the middle ground between strat SC and LP humbucker from the other direction.

I'd say phantas is pretty spot on. P90's are a single coil trying to sound like a humbucker, WRHB's are humbuckers trying to sound like single coils. Both have the same desired effect of an awesome middle ground between SC's and HB's, but approach it from exactly the opposite way. I just prefer the WRHB's due to the feedback elimination of being HB based, P90's get noisy quickly..... but god do they sound good with low tuned guitars put through ridiculous amounts of gain.

did somebody say wrhb? my novak jm-wr just arrived today. pics later when it's installed in the baritone. if anyone is curious what a baritone jazzmaster with a wrhb in the bridge and a lipstick behind the bridge sounds like, i may be able to get some clips recorded
