Supposedly all original '69, I'll be taking the neck and pickguard off tonight to check (bought at a major store, so no problems returning it if it isn't as advertised).

damn nigga!

Thanks guys! I pulled the neck off, and it was made in May of '69. The pot codes read '66, so it's definitely legit. The neck pickup isn't original, but it came with the original. Unfortunately, the original neck pickup has been degaussed at some point, and two of the poles on the bridge pickup have really poor magnetic pull too. So I'll have to get them remagnetized, but I imagine that should be a pretty cheap fix.

The original trem bar was long gone, but it came with a replacement bridge assembly and trem bar. Well I wanted to keep the original tailpiece on it, so I had the trem bar ground down so it fits. The original case was also long gone, but my local guitar shop luckily had a spare '60s Mustang case, so I bought that. The neck plate isn't original (no serial number), but I might try to snag one on ebay at some point.

It plays really well, and sounds great. While the body definitely has its fair share of chips and dings, the neck is fucking pristine. Frets appear to be original and have plenty of life left. I'm very happy with it so far, and it'll only be better once I get the original pickups remagnetized and back in it. I've got it setup with '10s right now, as that's what it was set for when I got it, and all that I had around the house. I think I'll switch to '11s soon though, not a lot of tension on the strings with the 24" scale length.

The neck pickup switch isn't orginal, and the original bridge pickup switch is a little finicky, so I might just switch that one for a replacement too.

I'm fairly new to forums and I don't know if this is like asking a girl how much she weighs... but what was the price on that beauty? If you don't mind :thumb:

i hate you in the friendliest way possible. Two weeks ago I had a trade worked out for an all original 71 mustang. and the dude fucking emailed me back AFTER WE AGREED TO MEET UP FOR THE TRADE, to say "oh yeah sorry I traded it for a marshall".

Dude, that sucks. I fucking hate craigslist flakes so much. Hey, maybe you'll come across something even cooler now instead.

Alright, time to add my input to this thread. I have 2 guitars. My Alvarez MD-95 is spectacular. I have a Fishman humbucking pickup in that. I also just picked up (today) a 2000 Fender Nashville Power Deluxe Series Telecaster and I'm in love. Eventually I may swap out a couple of the pups but for now I am totally happy with my trade/purchase.
