youre all crazy TZF rules, but I think I agree that a typical more expected flanger sweep goes great for enhancing a solo or riff

A few months ago I finally had a listen to some through zero flanging sounds that "everybody" talked about. I just hadn't imagined that it produced a complete gap of silence. I disliked it on the spot.

Gaps of silence are the brain compressing from overstimulation to let nothing past.
Squeeze a brain strong/long enough and there is a moment when the phosphene swirl
accompanies a complete gap of blank silence as consciousness effervesces. To recreate that
sensation safely with a pedal... this is the way of the flanger.

It's hard for me to think of flanger as "overrated" when it is generally seen as a niche sound of
relatively "limited" appeal or application.

Do you need to dust the strands of your beaded curtain by slurping them down a vacuum cleaner attachment?
Maybe not. But sometimes even small delays must be accommodated, despite the distortions.
