Burn After Reading. Turd After Reading more like. Or something.

I also felt absolutely nothing from watching Lost in Translation. I don't hate it or like it. It is just complete nothingness.

Fight Club. Shit film based on a shit book. I like Norton alot, but Fight Club is bad.

Kill Bill.

I don't know if it can be considered overrated, as I don't know if it is 'rated' at all, but the first Fast and Furious movie is the worst I have ever seen, without exception. I haven't seen any of the others, with good reason.

Much better than A Serious Man. That Was A Serious Meh.

A Serious Mans was another Cohen Joint? i'm.... not huge into them. i liked True Grit and love Country Of And For And About Old Men.

but Fargo? blegh. i don't care how good you swear Blood Simple is, i tried to watch it a year ago and it is dated and boring as Madonna's Roast Beef Palace.

my drummer hates me. he LOOOOOVES all things Cohen Brothers.

Blood Simple is hella fun, but yeah, it's seriously dated. It's like the JV version of No Country For Old Men.

Fargo is another one of those movies that took me a loooooong time to warm up to. I like it, and it's really good, but I don't feel like I have to watch it ever again.

Lebowski is classic. And I was on that fucking bandwagon back in 2000 and have the first gen DVD to prove it, goddamn it.

Barton Fink is awesomely fun, as is Raising Arizona. Haven't gotten around to seeing Miller's Crossing, but the odds seem to point toward me enjoying it.

Apocalypse Now. Pretty much any movie by Coppola. Including the Godfather. Waaaay overrated.

Forrest Gump. "It's so deep and meaningful" LOL. It's poop!

Almost anything with Robert Deniro, except Taxi Driver.

The first half of Fight Club was excellent, then it went downhill...

ANY movie connected to M. Night Shyamalan

lol. i've been saying that forEVER. and i get these horrified, are you RETARDED looks. but Casino is way better than Godfather. at least it's watchable.

Raising Arizona is fucking AWESOME, Lebowski isn't funny at all. i tried. Flea is cute as a Nihilist and i forget his name but i adore the main Nihilist. Peter something? he's always the best part of a movie he's in. yeah, Constantine isn't that good and it's nothing like the book, but him as Satan? and that oddly insanely hawt grrL from Benjamin Buttons as androgynous angel Gabriel? urf. YESH PLEASE.

TILDA SWINTON. LOOOOOVE HER.

i has so many boners for her.

M. Night is garbage. except for Unbreakable. i love that movie. and Lady in the Water i actually kinda like.... i just have to ignore the whole The Most Despicable Person In This Movie Is The FILM CRITIC And The Resurrected Jesus Character That Will Die For Your Sins And Save The World Through LITERATURE BEAUTIFUL MISUNDERSTOOD LITERATURE Is Played By M. Night parts.

I thought it was pretty funny until they killed off Michael Cera.

From then onwards, easily one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

The scenes where Charlotte is sitting in her hotel room (bootttyyyy!!) and looking out over Tokyo, there is a dim nature to those shots. I think that's supposed to be the case, though—to personify her mood. Then when she is out sightseeing in the countryside of Japan, where she is driven to think and feel powerful and persuasive thoughts, the cinematography becomes brighter and the start contrasts kick in.

These things, in my opinion, should be felt more so than cognitively meditated over. So if you felt crappy watching the movie and hated it because of that, which is completely fair, then the meaning and synopsis behind the muted textures and colours is irrelevant. Taking something apart to understand it better is fair enough, but if you're taking apart a piece of meat and you're a vegetarian, it isn't exactly going to help you change your mind.

Exactly. I loved the subtlety of the film, I think that unlike other romances in films, Lost In Translations just seems to flow so naturally and delicately and juxtaposes nicely with the physical and emotional isolation that both characters seem to be struggling with. That last scene got me right in the fucking feels too.
Yeah, when Bill Murray towers over Scarlett's character you feel it in your bones. Beautiful scene.

And yeah, sometimes it is really helpful to critique each scene on a fine scale, but if you don't like a movie then someone telling you why you don't like it isn't always going to make you like it.
Fair.

For me, like and dislike are an emotional binary that kind of exists outside of quality. For example, I've never vibed with A Clockwork Orange, but it's certainly a good film.
The funny thing is, I actually agree with you. I see both sides to the argument. I see the absence of opinion in certain forms of art, and when someone can logically accept a pieces faults and triumphs despite actually disliking or loving the piece overall, that's an awesome thing to see. So few people are able to put aside their feelings and offer an objective criticism. Fanboism.

I absolutely love A Serious Man. It took multiple viewings to really appreciate it though. The lead character just makes me smile in every way possible. I adore him. Seeing him in Lincoln gave me goosebumps.

Kill Bill is fantastic. And Fight Club... well, I'm a fanboi, yo, so I'll fight ya!

Wasn't particularly impressed with Burn After Reading. I think they took everything too far. They pushed the quirkiness of their characters to levels of ridiculousness. Everything was an over the top caricature of all that the Coen Brothers have ever done. It was completely unbalanced and unbelievable. Obviously The Coen Brothers make unbelievable movies, but they always balance it with realism, art, history, and depth. Also, Fargo was just straight up funnier and better looking, so whatever issues you have with its take on violence or its caricature of Canadians are kind of irrelevant when you factor in how glorious it looks and how hysterically funny it is.
