And good luck with the Guitar Centar wait.
I just took it into my tech for nut repair, needs to be altered anyway for bigger strings. He's gotta level/dress some frets too. Get this, Squier only covers a single 1/2 hour of tech time per repair so he's gotta apply for an extension to get paid OR request a whole new neck. Hopefully they just pay him and it gets resolved quickly.

So how many mods are most of you guys doing/planning on doing to your new VI's? As in, how much additional cost are you putting into it?

I'm thinking about treating myself one of these weeks and I'm curious how much work needs to go into these to make up for the (assumed) lack of production quality.

I'm throwing about $300 in the one I bought but they're so fucking cheap that's to be expected. I saw a post somewhere that read "How many Chinese children were harmed in the making of this Bass VI" and that is so true! $349?!? Madness!

Zero Chinese children, Indonesian!

I haven't had to put a buck into mine except swapping the crappy (even by crappy knob standards) control knobs with Gibson-type speed knobs.

I'd swap them even if it had decent knobs, but these are mother of chintzy.

Got told the other day not to expect my Bass VI, which I ordered mid-summer, to be in until FEBRUARY 2014.... holy shit....

I cancelled the order and put the dough towards a Marshall 2061x.

Got mine about 2 weeks ago, placed order at GC on 8/31.

I have the tortoise guard and a set of unopened la Bella stainless steel rounds available for sale or trade if anyone's interested!

Just finished upgrading the one I got for my younger brother. It turned out really well.

New Parts Include:
-Staytrem bridge
-Upgraded trem assembly
-Gotoh Fender stamped tuners and conversion bushings
-LaBella Custom Round wound string set
-Black pearl pickguard
-Knobs
-Oversize strap button
-Neck shim

Plays very well, feels much more solid with great tuning stability compared to stock status. Had to utilize the warranty immediately to rectify a bad nut and 7 high frets. Oh, and the pickups sound pretty great, def hotter than those in my Custom Shop Bass VI. Quiet too. Only complaint is they get kinda "clangy" sounding but that can be dialed out with the tone knob.

Looks badass. Sounds and plays far better than I was expecting as well. :thumb:

I usually can't stand pearloid pickguards of any kind but that one looks awesome, Schnikes.
