1:50 in that vid is about the cutest thing ever. Cats and dogs are not mutually exclusive. We've got three bullies and a Himalayan. Has to be a cool cat that will stand up for itself though. It's pretty funny when an 8 lbs cat bosses around a 125 lbs Dogo Argentino

And speaking of Dogos, our is such a baby. He was really in a bad way when we got him and I take him to Petco a lot just to get him and myself some exercise and let him meet people and work on being good during walks. I'm still using a cane a lot of the time and don't need a behemoth dog learning bad behavior so we practice together. Kind of a mutual rehab.
So last week we went down there and the groomer lady noticed that his nails were getting to long and offered to trim them on the spot. So he went with here to the back and I chilled with the other dog I had brought, our AB/Lab mix.
Dogo seemed fine when we left but monday the Wife brought him there while I was jammin with the guys and he didn't want to go in.. She had to push him through the door and then drag him through the store all slipping on the tiles. She told me about this and I kinda laughed and figured he'd be fine the next time I took him because I'm so awesome and why would he ever act like that when I was taking him.....
Yeah, so yesterday I found myself limping around petco draggin behemoth dog and trying to bribe him with his favorite treats which he completely ignored and feeling like I'm being abusive because our big bad dogo is traumatized from having his nails trimmed.
We'll work on it.

ugh. i fucking hate PetCo and Pet Smart. never mind that i've worked 15 years at the family grooming shop that my mom has run in different incarnations for about 30 years and they try to Starbucks local small groomers out....

they hire people that have NO experience. which is fine if a dog is really used to or okay with grooming. and it's not about that a more experienced groomer will do the haircut better, that's just a You Get What You Pay For Thing. we get a new client every month or two that brings in a dog, tells us how they where at Pet Smart and either they sent the dog home because it was so bad and freaked out it fought the whole time and shit on the table or the owners said the dog acted scared every time they went back to that store. and then they are an adorable dog that is fine as long as you go slow and be gentle with it. get to watch them open up and realize that they might not love what we're doing at first, but we're not going to hurt them or be mean to them.

i'm so glad i have a job where i can take a 5 minute break if i'm feeling down and roll around and play with loads of dogs, but they can be difficult. and if you lose your temper and force them or bring over people to help you sit on them to make them do stuff they don't want... which inexperienced people do all the time, then you shouldn't be working with them. it makes me all warm and proud and happy when we get owners that bring in there dogs and talk anout how in the morning theys say, "want to go see Ben? and Dianne?" and the dogs do the happy wiggle dance or to watch a dog barrel out it's car and try to open our shop door by itself.

ugh. fucking HATE the way the box stores treat dogs.

that's awesome man, and I'm kinda blaming myself. Ordinarily I would just do it at home but I got lazy and now D is scared to go into the store. I took the easy convienent route and now my buddy is scared of something he used to think was fun.

dogs are sensitive but he'll forget eventually. lol. he might never like the GROOMERS there, but if you keep giving him awesome positive experiences there he should associate that more than the guhhhhhhhh don't WANNA.

guh. i just. urf. i HATE seeing people that are s'posed to know what they're doing make things harder for cute dogs. or ugly dogs. ugly dogs are so damn cute.

I knew her previous owner for years and I told him in no uncertain terms that he'd be a fool to get that dog. Well three years later he realized I was right and made the hand-off. Sadly she was able to develop some OUTRAGEOUS manners while he had her and she's been a handful. Don't get me wrong though, she's wonderful. Here's some (long and boring) video that shows Rosie, the rest of my dogs and even Rosie's former owner. Sadly two of these beautiful canines are now deceased.
