sounds like somebody that likes good books more than reading somebody wanking one out to how beautiful trees are.

FUCK Tolkien. sorry, that shit's almost as boring as Dune. blegh.

KISS MY HERETICAL JUNKY BITS.

.......... in a loving and friendly way.

i get that they're classics and all that bullshit...... but i just..... i just like books that are actually........ enjoyable to read? i made myself finish the first LotR and Dune book, had to punch a baby in the taint to get my happiness back. not for me. no thanks.

although, the Dune movie was AWESOME. too bad the LotR movies are such garbage. like watching the Star Wars prequel trilogy...... but with elves instead of rebels, orcs instead of stormtroopers, and old....... magic men in..... robes...... instead of...... old magic men..... in robes.

yeah.

You know, it's funny Behndster. Tolkien was always one of those things that I just thought that I was SUPPOSED to worship, like any good little geek does. But seriously, so far at least, Martin is kicking Tolkien's ass.

Dune Fucking RULZ. The original books have so much to say about Politics, Religion, Society, Drugs, Environmentalism, the Human Condition, Warrior Traditions, on and on. Amazing works of literature.

I can tell you that, so far at least (sick of typing that), Game of Thrones has just as much commentary on those things as Tolkien does.

maybe they do, but they're....... DRY....... as fuck. hah. i'm CLEVER. i liked the story, i just hated the way it was presented?

seriously. i was the same way. Martin is INSANELY good. i dunno how he can juggle that many characters and keep them all so unique and different from each other, but you still care about almost all of them. i guess...... it helps...... that he takes 7 years between books? i love the series, but i started reading right after the second book came out. i've been waiting more than a decade now i think for a resolution.

please PLEASE finish them before you die you giant unhealthy bastard of a biblio-BEAST.

Full disclosure: The Hobbit was the first book I ever read. The Dune trilogy wasn't far behind.

However, I don't support the idea that LOTR (+Hobbz) or the first three Dune books are dry at all. But, you know, I was five when I read them the first time, so my opinion is pretty skewed.

there's loads of stuff like that. Beatles? i get that they were a huge part of music changing and all. but i have no emotional attachment to them. so they're just boring bland Dad Rock to me.

like....... urm........ i guess with books, the Lensman Series? it's a little trite and SUPER dated ('specially in it's portrayal of The Womenz), but i still love re-reading them every few years. they were my first introduction to sci-fi and one of the few things my biological father ever did right was introduce me to them. but i'd totally understand if somebody thought they were childish shit if they read them for the first time now.

Dune was awesome. I'm not turned off by verbosity though.

Beatles... Dad Rock?!

I could hate fuck your assessments so hard right now.

Anyway, The Eye in the Pyramid is pretty rad so far. Best explanation of the book comes from a passage early on:

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I asked, wondering if I was in some crazy surrealist movie, wandering from telepathic sheriffs to homosexual assassins, to nympho lady Masons, to psychotic pirates, according to a script written in advance by two acid-heads and a Martian humorist.

So far, I dig.

lol. that brought up an image of having to form a paper-mache human ass out of printouts of that post and holding the cheeks open for your Hate Pillaging.

Dad Rock's an exaggeration. they're just not my thing.

Tolkien was a great world builder but he wasn't a writer on Martin's level.

Currently reading some political book (Griftopia by Matt Taibbi) and an economics textbook (Yay college!).

Game of Thrones...haha need to read that.

I found my copy under a pile of pedals last night as I was snapping a shot for BILF.
