I love and hate it at the same time... I like the new character and the animation a lot but.. I have watched the original so many times that when the story is changed I have a hard time excepting it.. so I don't know it is is better, worse or the same as the original..

Rebuild is not the same story, but another "version" of it, like it cycles and repeats itself every time and it will always continue like this, but this time is different for some reason. This would actually make it a sequel...

yeah.. but... they kept a lot of key scenes the same.. that is where I get.. because I have read some of the manga [2 of the series] so I know about the parallel story element to Evangelion.. but... the just popping in old scenes was a bit clunky the way they did it.. to me..
