While I'm at it...
I learned a lot... Learned that Ampeg V4B is really awesome, learned I really don't want a Rickenbacker (great sound, but horribly uncomfortable... 70's 4001 that was) and that the MIJ Fender Mascis Jazzmaster is really awesome. And that Mick's third bridge guitar... I didn't even play it, but maaan...
My personal favourite pedals FOR ME were the Buzzz, Industrialectrics, Judder, Prunes and Custard and Wolf CPU. Fairfield Randy's Revenge was also really awesome. I didn't play too many different pedals (that I haven't played before at least) but those were KING. Really enjoyed Goroth with Algal Bloom V2 and the Rainger FX, Tris with the insane RM1N/Scrutator/Judder/Revolver combo and his great commandment of Tremolessencee and Frazz Dazzler, Mick with Maxon Ether, Industrialectrics and BDSM, ... there was so much happening though...
And we would have probably made everything much more boring without Carsten's drumming, really enjoyed playing with you, man! Jams were awesome and I felt very proud of ourselves after listening to them. This is going to be one bad-ass album

As Mick aptly pointed out - no one really had bad moments, everyone had their moment to shine, there was always something happening.
And I felt incredibly connected to you guys and had the best weekend in a long time. I absolutely let go and relaxed which I haven't been able to for a long time. Thank you all for the great experience. I can't wait to see you again
couple things
a) I still absolutely 100% stand behind what I said - if I were gay, I'd totally go for you, Matt. You didn't hear me say it, so I'm putting it out there
b) Sorry for the stomach trouble? Felt bad for being a bummer for a while, but it got much better in the apartment

c) Already told this to Mick - hope I didn't come off too... Business-y? I really didn't mean that if I did. I don't think I did, but... better be safe than sorry

I just care, that's all you know

Hey dudes!
Thanks so much for an awesome weekend, and Mick, thanks for organising and having us over, it really was a blast!
For me the Frazz Dazzler and Tremolessence combo stood out, I was so suprised I could actually make music with just two pedals,
it felt like such a natural complement to my playing.
And then the Buzzz, holy goats, that thing is heavy as fuck, especially on bass.
Oh yeah, last but not least, the RM1N/Scrutator/Judder/Revolver combo was great great fun too.
Even greater fun though were the jams themselves, the times we took to hang out together and the dinner with awesome German cuisine.
Definitely loads of fun and cool moments there:
- a lot of things made sense
- music was happening
- goats were mentioned in a pleasant frequence
- great album and song titles came to fruition
- awesome stories were told and shared
- the Kolsch, rum and whisky we had tasted really good
Peace, love and brohugs!

Dark axel, I'm deeply hurt you didn't mention my drumming.
...
..
.
Bwa ha ha ha!
Jesus. Drums are so fricking hard to play. Awesome job proCarstenation.
I could easily do over the whole weekend, eat none of the same stuff I ate, drink totally different brews, borrow totally different pedals and still have a great time. There was just so much cool stuff to do with you dudes, it was impossible to fit in everything in one weekend.
Much love for everyone!!!

I know and I do feel bad about it, but I just felt bad for not being able to commend Carsten about his effects choices because he just never really turned up enough to steal the show... like you did sometimes

Or like I did with the buzzz
I actually really enjoyed your drumming, cool, powerful primal stuff

Who wouldn't want to play fuzz bass to that dude
and yeah, you nailed that... we should totally do everything differently next time but still with the same amount of fun
and goats

Wow what a weekend!!
It's amazing how this much life fit in so little time...
I'm honored to have been playing with such beasts at the instruments...
So many musical backgrounds and disciplines converging
EPIC EPICNESS!
especially Tristan, good god what a cat! I think his Little Jazz-Sonnata for Revolver & Scrutator was easily the best piece of music of the day. And there was a lot of good music.
and he wasn't even trying. hats off again and again. I'm buying more hats, just so I can off 'em...
Oh and one bad joke for goroth: you put the et al. in metal.
Wait.. how did I see the even more bad & obvious one only now: you put the Matt in metal
As you can see, still kinda recuperating from this IRL ILF Reentry...
nobody loves fuzz where I live....

So, how is everybody liking their pedals on loan?
I fell in love with the bitquest which is quite the swiss army knife! At some point I think I need one of those in my life. The pitch shifting delay is less fun than the GB24, and the notch filter didn't come alive yet (probably needs some fuzz in fron!) but everything else would have a place on my board, but my fave is the harmonizer and sweeping through the mix with an expression pedal. Such great sounds can be had!
The Miku could probably be used in many contexts, including whatever it actually was intended for, the way I see it, you get a decent guitar synth voice that does some whacky shit if you misuse it. Not a small feat but at the same time nothing I could see myself using on a regular basis.
The HM-2 is weird. I can't get it to sound right at home, maybe it needs the brutal volume of the big amp? Tris, any advice on how to set this thing? Everything dimed, right?
The Time Bender... It's just so massive! I can't yet wrap my head around it. I love the faux Misty Cave sounds of super-short delay times with nearly oscillating feedback, especially in ducking mode. Other than that I've not yet been able to realise what the hell is going on. I guess I need to take some of the settings off of that Time Bender forum and go from there.
How are the babies doing that I lent out?

Oh, and btw, I haven't forgotten about the cutting, but I'm sort of filled up to my chin with work stuff. If anyone volunteers, I won't complain. Otherwise it might still take some weeks. Hopefully less, but you know.

The HM-2 is funny - I think it depends on if it is a clone of the japanese or Taiwanese circuit. I want to point out that I have no belief whatsoever in mojo or vintage anything or esoteric tone fairies, but I think the MIJ and the MIT sound so different there has to be a difference in the circuit - I've owned 4 MIJs (flipped 3 for insane profits in Sweden) and 2 MITs. Given that, it should account for any natural variation in the components for an individual pedal, and actually be a property of the circuit. I found the treble to be harsher, the distortion a lot greater, and the bass to be lacking on the MIT HM-2s I had.
The best settings I have used and enjoyed on my MIJ are as follows:
Distortion either on zero, or 10 percent or 80%. There is no real difference between 20% and 100% in terms of distortion, but if you wind it back a bit you get slightly less hiss. Dime the bass then wind it back until it starts to behave itself. The second tone control controls both the mids and the highs together, and there are two mid humps around 900 hz and 1200 hz IIRC. On lower distortion settings I generally set this knob not too high - just until it starts sounding a bit nasal. This is a nice setting for distorted chords, shoegaze and stuff. It cuts through the mix a lot but has quite a lot of clarity.
On max distortion you can push this knob closer to max. It gets very honky, but that is the chainsaw sound.

In my opinion this setting sounds pretty bad on anything tuned above C. Tune down to B and it rules. I assume it sounds good tuned lower as well, but a lot of the old Swedish death metal tunes were in B so I kinda get stuck there. It does sound better through a large cab, but you should be able to get it to sound good on lower volumes as well.

Ok, no doubt it was a volume issue. Because now it sounded good on any setting. Either that or it did not like the lower output of the duosonic. With my Bastin it did just what I was hoping it would do. That sweet gnarl on dissonant chords is just what I love about Slint and Damnation AD, the two bands that made me want to try this pedal in the first place. I will have to compare if I can get any of my own pedals to sound like this.
My setting was low about 3 o'clock which was where it started to sound beefy enough as I was rolling it back from before going too low on the knob. The mids around the lower of the two bumps, at 11 o'clock. Distortion was pretty much the same all over I thought. I left it in the middle.
