eniacmike wrote:that is awesome! nice mojo. is the side mounted pot a bias control? I like that pot, really cool looking.

Yea, that's the bias. It turned out so perfectly, just as I had planned.

rnagoda wrote:I like it! What is the first transistor in there? I never cared much for the perfect and glossy enclosure (I took a screwdriver to the top of my last build (see pics above)), I think it gives them some character when accidents happen and we roll with it. Doesn't make it sound any better or worse, does it? :thumb:

Thanks! The first transistor is 2n3564. I think the bubbles and whatnot add a little character, I just REALLY wish the epoxy hadn't risen when I drilled the switch  . Oh well, still very happy with it. Beating up pedals is fun.

I was fortunate enough to get the Mojo Face board from culturejam a couple months back, already set with leads and components. I had the finish in planning for a while and it just got pushed back and back. The holiday kind of kicked me in gear with it. The knobs came from a run-in with ss/bs, lol.

The skull was actually made with 2 ILF stickers that I hacked away at. I have some different knobs with the little faces on them :thumb:. Led is orange, btw.

With epoxy resins, you can't let them get hot when drilling or they'll rise up. It also helps to make sure to let the cure a couple of days before drilling.

If you use a step bit, switch to one with fewer steps, or just normal drill bits. And make sure you're not trying to drill too fast. You may be able to clean cutting fluid off of the epoxy (they're supposed to resist everything), so that may help too.

You can exhale on the the resin when it's wet to pop the bubbles (that tip came from Cloudscapes). They may keep coming back, especially with a label on, so a seal coat before pouring the thick coat helps a lot with that. If you're doing a lot, use a torch, or you'll go light-headed from all the exhaling and pass out on your pedals, waking up with pedals stuck to your face.

Seriously, though, that pedal looks -awesome-.

 your response is full of win. I should have just pm'd you and asked for tips like I planned on doing. Cloudscapes and you were my inspiration for this finish.

Oops - I did it again! Here's my 'GodaBender' done up with a slew of controls and painted up all purty - not the best organized guts ever, but it's a prototype for my own use so I can deal with it:

I love the white led lately. it is so ridculous but it looks really cool when you playing and it lights up the fretboard.
