NGD!

I've been unsuccessfully trying to sell my Seagull acoustic for a while now and while I wasn't looking for trades, I got an offer that I couldn't refuse.

Gretsch G5122, with a hardcase in absolutely perfect condition. Seriously, it's in better shape than most guitars in stores and it still has that new guitar smell. Even thought it must be a few years old as it's Korean made and I believe the new Electromatics are made in China now.

There is a decent chance that I'll end up selling it not too long down the road, but I'm pretty excited to have a hollowbody, bigsby guitar. And if I don't, well I guess I'll have an excuse to buy a new Couch strap soon.

Here's my buddy's Squier Strat that I had forever before I got the purple jawn.

Well now that I've had a bit of time to play with it, I think she's a keeper. Surprisingly little feedback with fuzz, granted I'm not playing anywhere near gigging volume. Neck pickup run through Fuck or Super Puzzle is simply amazing, especially with the tone knob rolled down. Pickups are a bit muddy clean, may have to spring for a set of TV Jones sometime down the road. And fuck yes Bigsby! How I've never owned a guitar with one of these before is simply beyond me now. I'm tempted to put one on my MIJ LP copy, but sadly I think I may sell that if I'm keeping the Gretsch.

I love my semi-hollow but gig/rehearsal volume will give you a far better idea what to expect in regards to feedback. It can be tamed but it helps to have a cooperative guitar for sure!

Who knows,...if you can control the feedback,...may be an extra element to your music. I've heard of guys stuffing their semihollows with foam to help control feedback. I had an Epi Dot Studio but never got it to volumes that induced feedback. Perhaps this is one setting where a SS amp would be better (puke) maybe a JC-120?

Is that a CA Ring Mod I see on your floor.

I love that pedal. CARM->Delay is beautiful.

Very nice guitars, easy to play with the 9.5" neck radius and the body contours, super comfy tele and sounded huge. I upgraded to 500K pots eventually, maybe caps, but yeah, sounded really good and setup well, no issues ever.

I agree and definitely prefer a semihollow that can feedback easily as long as it controllable. Awesome guitars for expanding your sound and most will settle down with volume control or moving away from the amp to grab the reigns. I had a 335 a few years back and it went crazy at high volume. Tried the foam, calmed the noise but also muffled the guitar sound, never could get sounding how I like. Prefer the smaller, Les Paul sized stuff, 339 or whatever else. That Gretsch will probably be killer when you upgrade pickups.

The best I've found is a Maton BB1200, sold a bunch of shit to fund one. Good weight, huge sound, coil tap, shit-ton of variety, superb build quality, and won't run away with the feeback, ever. It's the weirdest feeling playing a semihollow at HIGH volume in front of your cabs, the air being forced out of f-holes with notes, guitar literally puffs away and willingly screams with feedback if you let it, all based on positioning...

nice one, dude. if I could get the sound I need out of humbuckers, I'd snag one myself.
