for you... I have a hard time playing 8s and 9s in tune..

I use 9s and bend like crazy. Not really a tuning issue ever. Weird.
Big hands use to bass strings, I bend them just by pressing down

Yeah, I have that problem as well.
Thank Dunlop for Dunlop Heavy Cores.

Decided to swap the pickguard out in my battered ol' Jag because everyone knows red ones go faster.

Love that!! How do lipsticks sound in a jag?

Really bloody good to be honest. Far rounder and fuller than standard Jag pickups. It definitely has one foot in Jazzmaster territory now, especially in the neck position.
These are 8.5k wound lippys though, so I'm not really going to get my classic Danelectro sound out of them.
I can still go back into twang if l like. On the regular circuit in the neck pickup and the bass-cut on, it's still as jangly as ever. Flip it into the rhythm circuit though and it's deep and round. Not bad for £30 for the pair!

Did you have to do any routing to get them in?

No extra routing required, these were the 'strat sized' lipsticks. They're my second pair and I had some Danelectro ones in originally that died. I had to fabricate new mountings for those since the original Dano brackets were massive and the Jag body is far too shallow for that.

My Bare Knuckles are installed in my Custom, replaced the stock Classic 57s, soooooooo goooooood! I went with an Abraxas set, brushed nickel covers, basically a HOT version of a PAF style 'bucker with some EQ refinements ie; tighter bass and smoother highs.

God dat 4 conductor version to give me more variety with this guitar. Had it wired with series/parallel options for each HB individually, all controlled via 2 push/push tone pots. I much prefer parallel options to coil tap, should've tried this out awhile ago. Tone remains plenty full, just a bit brighter and more chimey. Also, there's very little perceived output loss and they remain hum canceling, good shit!
Decided to take a crack at aging my nickel hardware while I was at it. The tuners turned nice and dull almost immediately when I got this guitar but the Tonepros bridge and tailpiece were holding onto their shine for dear life. Went with the white vinegar method, suspend parts in a closed container with a shallow layer of household vinegar, watch closely, remove before the nickel finish is eaten right the fuck off. Came out nicely imo.
This guitar is finally complete, my Dunwich is just about sewn up as well, happy times right now!

Next up, putting a Toronado bridge and some new saddles on my Pawnshop Mustang. Why Fender didn't go with that in the first place is a complete mystery considering it actually fits the pickguard they're using. Also looks way better imo. Sometimes Fender makes me like

Love the color on that Les Paul.
I keep going back and forth on whether I should sell mine or not. But then I play it or see an awesome one like yours and am reminded that I do actually kind of like them.

Yeah, I'm a fan of the LP (the Custom in particular) but I've played several over the yearsl that did nothing for me. Gibson actually built this one to perfection for once, one of the best playing guitars I've owned, EVER! It was fairly one dimensional with the 57s but the BKPs alleviated that issue thank god.
I'll never let this one go, that much I can state with confidence.
