Neon will say mini, I will say Black Forest, skull my may say a Klone or a clean boost.
Usual suspects.

Didn't realize that. Thanks. Now I'm said I pulled it off since I am downsizing to a pedal train jr and was just going to use the timeline. But that has the reverse and half time too so I should be good to go.fever606 wrote:Half-speed AND reverse is where it's at! Pro tip: double-tapping the secondary function button does the other effect. So if you have that button set up to reverse, a double-tap will half-speed your loop...
I have used a u67 but of course that falls into the super expensive category. If you can find a decent clone of that style it should fulfill your needs. Another route you may want to check out are ribbons. There have been some ribbons built that can stand up to the really loud sources and may actually be better then the condensor depending upon what you are looking for. They work especially well if you pair them with a dynamic as the dynamic will give you that tighter punchier mids while the ribbon will give you the rounder warmer sound. Modern pair is the royer 121 or 101 with a 57. But I have also used an RCA 77 or 44. Actually got the idea of using the 44 from YOB when they were recording their last album and posted a pic of their guitar set up. AEA makes some modern versions of those ribbons but the royer would be the cheaper way to go.louderthangod wrote:I was wondering if any of you guys have a go to condenser mic that you like for recording the big doomy stuff? I've been using a 2-mic technique with a Sennheiser MD421 up close and the a Rode NT1a about 6' back and it works out pretty good but the Rode seems like the weak link. I was thinking about sending it to that Michael Joly guy that mods them or just getting a new condenser. I don't have U87 or 47 money but I'd be willing to go up to a grand or so for something to get the job done.
BAT Black Forest or Witch Burnerchristianatl wrote:Hey dudes. I'm looking at getting a drive pedal that's more than my Xotic AC Boost, but less than a fuzz. OCD? DLS? What say you?

It stays in Pharaoh territory for sure. I imagine it's really similar to the Badascan since its a pharaoh / LSTR hybrid but I haven't tried it next to mine yet. I can get the Crown of Horns dialed in but there is just enough difference in tone to make it worth having. Its higher gain, and a little more rounded in the eq to my ears. I see where you're coming from though. Definitely nothing groundbreaking, but it sounds damn good and the tone bypass on a switch adds one hell of a boost, different than stacking an OD or something else in front of it.Barracuda wrote:It seems like it covers a lot of the same ground as most of BAT's other offerings.emptyparadigm wrote:Am I the only one not at all into the Crown of Horns? good demo. thanks. i didn't realize it was a LSTR/pharaoh hybrid. the two demos i've heard sound pretty different to me than my badascan. i agree about the more rounded eq sound. it's got a softer kind of heavy fuzz sound. maybe i could dial that in with the badascan, but i'm not sure. but it seems to be a major part of the character of the crown. seems like it sounds great for a heavy stonery sludge band or something, which isn't a sound that works with what i do, but i bet those are the people that are going to love this. If that was my thing and i could afford to buy gear, i'd be all over it.conky wrote:oarfish wrote:Got my Crown today. Recorded a quick video of how it sounds when playing the heavy.![]()

Yup. That and I wanna see/hear Mark's take on a Rat.fallen wrote:BAT needs to make a boost. I swear half the reason that the pedals sound so good in front of a good pair of amps is because of how much volume boost they put out.

I've been checking out the Black Forest. Klone or clean boost would be less than the AC, I'm afraid.Iommic Pope wrote:Neon will say mini, I will say Black Forest, skull my may say a Klone or a clean boost.
