at this point events and circumstances are making decisions for me to a great extent. i would really like to get the fuck out of California, which i am socially and metaphysically weary of in many, many ways, but i'm rather stuck because i have the house, which though it's untenable in the long run is currently cheap enough--because i'm on unemployment and the mortgage is in temporary modification--to use as the base from which my friend Dan and i can work on projects. i really wish Dan hadn't relocated to Miami...if he was still in Chicago i'd pack up my shit and go in about fifteen minutes.

at this point it depends on how soon he can sublet his studio in South Beach. the complicating factor is that his lease goes through September, and many folks prefer to be there either in the summer (the big club season) or the winter (when things are quiet for the locals). he should be here before the end of the year.

Yeah... it's actually really fucking weird how quickly we connected. It took me and my ex months to get to the point where we were having conversations half as deep as the ones I'm having with this girl. I don't know about moving, though. I had planned to go back to Michigan since that's where my family and friends are, but now I've realized that the best program for my chosen major is at a university in California.

But oh yeah, forgot to mention... this new girl likes fuzz. :hello:

Wait, like, pubic hair? Or pedals?

Been really pleased with my ability to pick out riffs by ear lately. Hadn't been practicing that lately, but figuring out songs vs looking up tabs or chord charts is so much more fun.

On a related note, can anyone recommend me some more fuzzy bassists? I can only learn Brian Cook riffs for so long.

having been advised by my attorney that they won't break down the door for a property dispute and i can just refuse to answer, i'm now back home with my big grey kitty and remaining family member after having departed for a safe location for the extended weekend, and i am happier than you could possibly imagine to be back home with my guitars, my laptop on the table where it's supposed to be, and Ron-Ron grabbing my jacket sleeve, rearing up on his hind legs to get my attention, walking around my chair, and generally acting like you'd expect a cat to behave after his person has been gone for three days.

i used to think that i was all about travelling, but in recent years i've realized that i only like the actual act of traveling, driving down the road with the CD on and the bowl going. i hate waking up in strange places where everything's unfamiliar, and when i have a partner being separated from her drives me crazy.

Got the chance to jam over some Reason beats with my old guitarist and a good friend of ours (who made the beats and has drummed with us in the past).

Really, really enjoyed it, not sure how it actually sounds though, since I haven't listened to the tapes yet. Jamming over a locked loop is super rad when it makes you the only human element in the rhythm section. Also it was nice to play something that wasn't really doomy, even if my old guitarist and I still warm up to 10,000 Years.
