Oh to the FB point, every single person out there creeps other people all the time. Anybody who says they've never done that is straight up lying.
Generally speaking though, if you actually try to holler at someone that way, they're not gonna be too receptive. "Heeeeeyyyyy. I found youuuuu."

It's to the point now, where I don't think I can give a girl a compliment without her thinking I'm creepin or trying to hit on her. Kind of sad. You spent all this time on your outfit/hair/etc and you look great...but if I say that I'm a weirdo

Some women are into that.

I wish I had some more advice on asking out women, but both relationships I've ever been in the girl made the first move. Im way too shy/oblivious otherwise.

I think not being creepy just has to do a lot with what, how and when you say something. I don't think women are turned off by all compliments; that'd be really sad if they were.

+1, I tend to blank women unless I know them well.
My philosophy, if you don't know them beyond their name, they're probably not as interested in you as you think they are.

Yeah I think that's a solid rule of thumb. Assuming a stranger is into you is a bit of a reach, the vast majority of the time.

I've found doing your own thing worked best. Every relationship I pursued ended horribly but the few that I wasn't looking for anything blossomed into my longest lasting relationships.

Story of my (love) life. Every relationship that formed naturally or from friendships were leaps and bounds better than when dating strangers.

I'm 50 50 on this. To the former, I'm the opposite—the ones I pursued were always the best, while the ones that came to me were awful. I'd attribute a lot of that to being in a particularly drunk/lazy period of my life though, so the situations that required the least effort often ended up being with girls I'd never have gone after in a clear state of mind.
As to friends vs strangers, I absolutely have had much better luck. In fact I don't think I've ever had a relationship that started off with a stranger, rather always with friends or friends of friends.
