will the bass big muff give me more sustain? i heard it sounds like an svt if you leave it off because of the twin germanium capacitors, pretty sure theres an orange drop in there. probably a 500k one. 500k gives you the growl you know. does justin chancellor use 500k orange drops?
Fuck Geddy Lee I think Rush sucks. I also think Yes sucks btw
I like bands with balls.
I don’t like bad ass bridges.
I got my ’70 sunburst Jazz with maple/black blocks a year before Mr. Lee got his so he actually plays an MM signature bass.
Traynor makes the YBA-200 which isn’t that expensive and sounds good.
Yes the eq is a tad complicated for dip shits to use but we are talking about people who can’t replace a pick up with just 2 wires without out screwing up their entire bass.
“Problem I replaced the pickup in my SX P clone and now It hums unless I touch the bridge and the tone doesn’t work.”
Orange drops belong in computers, not musical instruments. Cornell Dubilier and Mallory 150s sound much much better.
Master volume was put in there to make the amp overdrive at lower volumes. Crank that bitch up and let the amp breath.
I need to find a VT bass and Bass Big Muff and video me setting them on fire.
Ack! ack!
I’m ranting again.

That's the only way I can ever describe why I loathe Rush: they have no balls. If I want to hear talented progfolk I need manshite like this:

At least I can feel my fur grow when I hear this stuff.

I wanna take a bit from Bill Hicks and form the People Who Hate People club,...."Let's have GTG,......No".
hahaha wow I just cackled at this. Boner points for tying it to one of the best Hicks bits.
Did you buy a big old stinky tube amp yet? My Mesa 400 seriously makes the entire house smell like mildew, but only on certain days. One more reason to

it.
No not yet on the tube amp. The 400+ is my quest but I need to get some more cabs. Currently I'm just running a single 4ohm 4x10 but I'm looking to get 2 8ohm 4x10s plus another 4ohm 4x10. For the noise band this will be sort of a complicated Preamp/Poweramp setup, with one channel of a stereo poweramp pushing 2ohms 2 4x10s and the other channel pushing 4ohms 2 4x10s. The 4ohm stack will then also be used in my more straight up (mostly clean,...a little bit of filter) rock band with a GK MB2-500 (will only run down to 4ohms. I don't know if a single tube amp can push so many cabs, so it's really a toss up and if I'm going to sacrifice tone for power and volume,...or pay out the ass and buy more than one tube amp.

The last ten minutes, we pull our 'chutes and float down to dick-joke island together, ok? And we will rest our weary heads against the big, purple, thick-vein trunks of dick jokes, and we will sit in our comfy beanbag scrotum chairs and giggle away the dawn like good American audiences, k?

I am running a fender/sunn 300 and it is loud as hell!
I am usually just running 115 but occasionally for fun its 215 and 410
With my band I dont ever get the master volume above 4 and I have a crazy loud drummer. If you end up with a comparable head eg. mesa 400+ you wont ever have to worry about not having enough volume.
I dont know why but 300 watts with an all tube head is WAY louder than my old 450 watt solid state head and WAY louder than a previous 900 watt solid state amp.

Yeh,...with my solid state heads (I love the clean sound of my GK MB2-500) I'm trying to push volume with power when I really want to be pushing volume with speakers. My perception (and I could be wrong) is 500 watts through 4 10s is not going to be as loud as 500 watts through 8 10s. When I first got my Preamp/Poweramp rig I got a 4ohm 4x10 and that has really limited my options for other amps. If I want to add a cab then I need a head that will run down to 2ohms. What tube heads if any do that? What tube heads (bass), if any are stereo and can run 2 4ohm stacks (if I were to just go with 4 8ohm cabs)?

The fender bassman 300 will run at 2 4 or 8 ohms. Its not stereo but does have 2 outputs.

Hmmmm,...thanks,...very Sunn Like huh (I know fender owned or still owns the Sunn marque).
A little research revealed the 400+ will run down to 2ohms as well

, but it appears that both will only run one stack or the other.

Dude pretty much any tube head through three 4x10 cabs could literally blow out windows. Note that I'm not warning you, but rather encouraging this endeavour.
Seriously though, fuck solid state wattage ratings. The loudest solid state head I've ever played was 400 watts, it even blew away the 750 watt version of the same fucking amp! It's all lies.
When it comes to tube heads, it's easy:
100 watts = always dirty, plenty loud
200 watts = grindy as fuck, the happy medium
300 watts = clean, unless you are trying to break windows
I prefer the 200 watt range. Then again, cab selection is probably the biggest factor when it comes to volume. Speaker area FTW.

nope it will run both
in fact you cant turn off one or the other if its plugged in power will be released
