Mini-doom, but still the biggest rig I've used in a long time.

ShaolinLambKiller wrote:Thank you and best the madison might just be a blown fuse. I didn't think of that monday and pulled it out and it was blown so I had to go to 6 stores to find a replacement. so I'll hopefully crank it up tmwr. everything else is great solid dick times.
Hopefully that blown fuse is not a symptom of something else dude.

Has it been working ok since you got it operational again?

I got it working, but it def is something else going on. If i switch to Edge 2 then it immediately blows. I had a back up and just decided to play without switching to lead 2 and well it worked perfectly based on that. I actually played it for about 30mins that way and figured I will get it repaired but it's not on the immediate list. I'll get the sunn enforcer taken care of first and then I'll get it done up nicely.

Thanks, man. It sounds pretty good. Sometimes I slave the Acoustic to the Laney, sometimes I plug straight into it the Acoustic. TBH at band practice when I turned off all the dirt and played through the 150 clean so my bandmates could hear my parts, it still sounded pretty doomy. Then again, they Laney has a pretty rad preamp. The cab could be better but it moves a lot of air, and I'm not sure it's entirely broken in yet. I bought it used from a guy who played it rarely and quietly. It's got G12T-100s in it.

So, lots of change up in PVYHenge lately...

It was a NAD. Picked up a Mace for $250 shipped with new ruby tubezzz. MACE IN DA FACE. BASS THRU THE MACE. Definitely not anything like my SS Peaveys, much higher gain, more distortion like. Decently loud, not OMG LOUD, but its really not the big of a tube amp to push the lows loadly. Tried it through my 218, way too much treble but plenty of bass on tap, its a guitar head after all. Swapped over to the much darker 810, purrrrfect. Dos punchy low mids. Pushed it with the Lucifuzz, thick and fuzzy, both settings are actually useable now. Phaser is amazeballs.

The new DOD Bifet pre works great, boosts the signal and brings the lows while keeping the tone and grit from the 250. Together they push my 800 Booster perfectly. DOD pres > PVY power FTW!!! It takes up way less space than my Dunwich pre, definitely doesnt have as many EQing possibilities with only a single tone knob, but Ill gladly sacrifice some of that for the space.

My Tuxedo Bass is now pushing my 218, its running as an always clean...for now.

My tone overall is much different than ever before, much more articulate and defined, not muddy or murky at all. GH drummer told me its the best Ive ever sounded, Im starting to agree...

Can you tell a difference? My MK120s has 12ax7s and my MK60 had the original Russian tubes in it. I couldn't tell a difference in the tone. The 60 was quieter when IO wasn't playing but thats about all I can remember that was different. I wouldn't mind having another MK120 though.

the only difference I could tell is the 12ax7s has a bit tighter end to it. 6pn2 has a more loose saturation. but largely they sound identical. I'll be doing a video of them side by side soon.
