the Stylophone CPM-DF8 filter unit finally dropped. at $300 i can’t afford it until i pay shit off, but it’s a beastly little thing. i’m dying to run my guitar through it. and obviously my Stylophone Drone Synth wants to have its babies.

The description is intriguing, as I can't recall any delay+verb boxes that added a vowel filter, but I need to hear more. The light show and the aesthetics are certainly sleek though.

You can tell they used to be with Gamechanger because they made a demo that doesn't demonstrate shit. The pedal seems kind of interesting, but I couldn't hear enough of the vocalesque effect to be able to tell if it's something I could work with. I imagine the "male, female and children voice characters" thing is kind of like the "Gender" knob on the EHX vocoder.

Thought about that, too. ---Could you take the most useless and one-dimensional novelty devices and blend them with ubiquitous effects for something new and unexpected?

Maybe they got high and watched the TE choir module videos. They thought, "What if we turned these wooden dolls into guitar pedals?"

The light grid from the Monk Echo is similar to the speaker opening on the TE Miki, and they both incorporate machine-generated choral sounds. :idk:

The "monk echo" name makes me think they were inspired by the Delay Lama VST http://www.audionerdz.nl/index2.htm

could be interesting, but that demo was utterly useless.

What a mish mash! It really does look like a teenage engineering pedal. I’m all for more formant filters in pedals though. And assignable macros for digital pedals should be a thing, and they got a big ol macro knob so good on them for that.

I’m now going to recreate this in ableton for the low price of $0.

Here's three new DBA offerings. They're $250 each, but will be discounted in your cart.
Thee Treble Overload revives the coveted treble boost circuit from the infamous limited-edition pedal, Thee Fuzz Warr Overload - this time packed with extra features and unleashed as its own weapon.
The Moonbeam is a 1-6 stage phaser. (each stage option has its own unique LED color, so you get a corresponding light show)

The Dream Station is a gritty reverb+delay.

Speaking of Gamechanger, they don't even bother making a useless demo with this one:

I'm intrigued by it, but two spectral plugins came out last month...for less money and they offer downloadable demos.

Transfigure isn't a part of the holiday sale, so you'd need to wait a couple of months for a discount. (maybe 40% off) That one is nuts---it's a spectral effect / resynthesizer. It does lots of spooky carnival sounds---it will turn basic sounds or single notes into wayward, arpeggiating soundscapes. I've used that one on percussion and keys. That is one of the deepest spectral tools I've tried---it really does a lot of exotic mangling/glitch stuff. It can do ambient/spacey stuff, too, but I've only had an hour or so with it.

I've enjoyed my other Lese purchases, but haven't had time to test this one yet.

Is "spectral" the new "granular"?

(I mean, I'm basically on board with that, so...)
