I would agree. But probably because I heard the wall so much growing up that it felt more commonplace. So when I first heard animals years later, it was a breath of fresh air.

I was really lucky to catch Waters' show the other weekend and Pigs/Dogs/battersea/inflatable PIG DRONE are the centrepieces of the entire 2hr15 show. Been on a bit of an Animals binge since. I sort of wish they'd built up a whole world around Animals coz the musical motifs are so good, they're Waters' lyrics at their best and it's just so real. The Wall is a proper rock opera, Animals is just an incredible example of the 70s rock LP.
The song 'Picture That' of Waters' last album channels Animals in a big way, too.

I think Animals is their best, period. Meddle close second. Of course The Wall and Dark Side are vital, excellent records but for me (and I imagine most people) they're just vastly oversaturated.

I knew that was coming. I usually just think of the Syd stuff as a whole 'nother thing, pretty hard to think of those two configs as even remotely part of the same catalogue (even though they are)

Gilmore despite not really being the creative genius behind the band, redefined their sound and launched them in an entirely new direction even if it was only by proxy.
Wall is best. Meddle second, animals third, dark side .. so on..
Anyone do Echoes synched to act 3 of 2001? It's pretty dank how well it matches up ..
